Question about HTC S710 Smartphone

1 Answer

Firmware deleted Hi, I wanted to update my firmawre for my HTC s720. After the update manager said that everything is done, I've unplugged the phone from my PC< but it was still rebooting and installing some telus stuff. After 1 mins I came back to it and found that the screen was off. I just couldn't do anything so I just took ofthe battery and placed it back. After that whenever I turn on the phone it reboots in the telus screen and keeps doing that so I can't even reinstall the firmware again. PLEASE HELP?

You will likely have to reset your phone to factory firmware
to do this:

1 hold down both soft keys (the 2 buttons under the screen that have no specific symbol, on either side of the launch pad)

2 while holding these, press the power button once

3 when phone turns on, release the soft keys

4 follow the on-screen prompts to reset phone to factory

5 (optional) try firmware upgrade again and WAIT FOR THE COMPUTER TO SAY ITS OK TO DISCONNECT BEFORE DISCONNECTING

hope this helps

Dear Sir, My HTC Smart is super slow & i sometime even can't send out masseges... i never install anything or use any SD Card... but i don't want to reinstall / reformat the whole phone....

With the Android OS, it is common that apps remain open in the background. Applications inclue your Messenger, Browser, Music, etc. (Not just the applications you download from the Market). I advise that you download a Task Manager from the Market. These can be found for free. Also, with Android always updating the OS, it fills a lot of memory on your phone. Installing a small SD card may be helpful for speed.

Try upgrade the firmware, bring your phone to HTC service center or to the place where you bought it. This might be caused from bugs from early firmware (software) from your phone, since people keep complaining, sure HTC will make a newer firmware which is bug-free and update it to internet or to their service center.

P.s: If you still have warranty, bring it to HTC service center, it'll be free and will not broke your warranty. And don't let them have your phone by days, upgrade only need couple of hours, try to wait them, make them promise that it'll be finished by that day. Good Luck ^^

Try a soft reset (remove and replace battery), If your sure you haven't installed anything that may have remapped the keys, next option is a hard reset (all data will be lost, make sure you back it up)

There are two methods to performing a hard reset
  • Select Start > Accessories > Clear Storage. Enter 1234 where prompted and select YES.
  • Power the device off. Press and hold the left and right soft keys. Power the device on while holding these keys. Follow the on-screen prompts to factory reset the device.
If you find you can hard reset using the second method you know that your keyboard is ok, if the it refuses to reset its looking like an electrical problem which could be the keyboard or motherboard..

best of luck
