Acer Aspire SA80 BIOS Freeze

Hello,

I have an Acer Aspire SA80.

It locks up on the ACER splash screen.

I reset the bios via the jumper on the MOBO and remove the CR2025 battery.

After a few goes I can get it to boot again.

It will run once or twice.

Then it freezes again on the Splash Screen!!

I have downloaded & successfully flashed the BIOS and have replaced the battery. Still same problem.

Im guessing its a BIOS problem & something to do with running a PATA (IDE) drive with a SATA drive together.

Please help?

Best Regards
John

Can not find bios up date for Acer sa80-g97z celeron 2.8 ghz mobo E661gxm-7

In the address bar, after launch, type information. Then select system information. Write down the bios info. Use it for a search. There is nothing about the bios on the support page for the Aspire SA80; they simply list drivers for the machine. No bios identifying information is provided for me to pursue a search. But, scurrying around, I hink the bios for the motherboard is at this address and that may be as updated as it gets. http://www.ecs.com.tw/ECSWebSite/Product/Product_Detail.aspx?DetailID=523&MenuID=1&LanID=0 You will find links to the mother board manual and bios there.

I think that is a Celeron D 336 with the motherboard manufactured by Company Elitegroup Computer Systems,ECS 661GX-M7 . The device drivers are available at http://acer.driversdown.com/acer-drivers/s_195_1.shtml

using a flat screwdriver make a connection between 2 pins on PWR only, disconnect everything else exept Mobo to do this just to see if you get boot to Bios, alter jumpers as you go

How do you get the CMOS back on the Acer Aspire M1640

If you can enter the BIOS, by pushing either F2 or the Delete key after starting up the computer and seeing the first splash screen, you can reset the BIOS to factory settings. If you cannot enter the bios, in order to reset the CMOS, you must open the tower, look for the small CMOS battery (small watch style battery) and look for a set up 3 pins near the battery. There will be a jumper on on two of the pins. If you remove the watch battery and move the jumper over to the other two pins, replace the battery. Then remove the battery again and place the jumper back in the original location and replace the battery.

This process will reset the CMOS. You must also be sure to unplug the power cord from the tower before starting this process. Be sure the watch battery is not dead or the settings will not hold. So, if you're not sure, replace the watch battery.

If you found this information helpful, please remember to leave positive feedback.

Is flashing the BIOS the same as resetting the BIOS? I to am going to upgrade to a 5400+ AMD CPU. mobo: MCP61-AM-6A61KE11C-00 BIOS version Ro1-B3. I'm having a hard time finding a flash for this version....

Hi, flashing the board and resetting it is not the same. flashing the board is downloading the firmware and installing in on the motherboard but resetting the bios is just moving a jumper found on the board to reset it to default state. try to get on the manufacturer website to get the flash files. Be careful flashing a motherboard may be very risky and harmful for the motherboard.hope that it helped and don't forget to rate.

Can't remember password

BIOS password remove alternatives:

1. Reset Password BIOS via Backdoor BIOS Password.
2. Reset Password BIOS via Software.
3. Reset Password BIOS via hardware.
4. Reset Password BIOS via default manufacturers.

OK, here is my guide to Remove Acer Bios password computer via Software. This has been done on testing machine Laptop Acer Aspire 3620/ Travel Mate 2420. Anyway, I'm not sure it will work on every Acer PC/Laptop so just consider to do at your own risk, I’m not responsible for any damages caused by this guide.

As we know most of Acer computer (Laptop & Desktop) allow us to setup BIOS in Microsoft Windows (9x/XP/Vista) environment. Great, this is the powerful that help us to remove the BIOS password cuz all we know if we enter Setup Utility at the boot time we have only three times of filling the password and if all wrong then the system will halt.
The program helps us to enter Acer BIOS setup in Microsoft Windows is “Acer eSettings Management” which comes with the CD when we buy Acer PC/Laptop. If you lost the CD then just come to Acer website to download the program.

check your mobo. somewhere in the down right corner is a round silver battery. unplug it for 10 minutes and make sure that the power supply cable is unpluged. then plug them back. your bios should be reset to factory settings.

Im looking for a free BIOS update as I have just added 1gb of ram and taken out the 512K one. I have an ACER aspire SA80 Desktop PC

BIOS updates are not really necessary unless you're having specific problems. They can sometimes be dangerous to your sysytem to install and not really necessary just because you install new ram. If there is a bios update available for your model it will be at acer's web site. Unless you wanna start learning to fix your own computer and reinstall a lot of software I'd leave the BIOS updates to the professionals.

It is on your os problem. Insert your OS installer. You don't have to install a fresh copy but you can repair your previous OS installation. Make sure you have set your boot sequence to CD, floppy and last HDD. You can now reinstall your drivers after doing that.
