Question about ASUS M2N-E SLI (M2N-E SLI GREEN) Motherboard

1 Answer

ASUS M2N-SLI DELUXE 2 hr "warm up"

I can not boot my CPU after unplugging it.  The green LED must be lit, as in pugged in, for a "couple" of hours.  Then it will run perfectly, "forever", I can even power down, just DON'T unplug it.  I have a lot of lightning and must unplug frequently.  Why is there an LED, It seem it is designed to be powered up, just a little, all the time.  Could I battery back it up (volt meter says 5 volts is all that is "on" when it is "off").  Why do they do this?

This is NOT an -E- mobo, it is M2N-SLI-DELUXE

    I have now used the VOM, and, unfortunately the battery is ok.
    Good idea, tho.
    The MOBO is *designed* to be fed 5 volts from PSU when in the "off" state.  If I unpug the machine for more than 5 minutes or so, I must wait and wai for a sucessful boot up.  I wonder what is being chrged, there is not a word in manual, other than to UNPLUG, or kill-switch the PSU before tampering with the slots.  I sort of suspect I'm charging a super cap thru a 1 meg resistor - sure wish I could leave it plugged in, but lightning WILL have its way here.

Motherboard Issue

Hi Tomokato,
This maybe nothing but the first thing I checked is the CPU.
Supported CPU list through Asus web site for M2N-SLI
(Click on this link). http://support.asus.com/cpusupport/cpusupport.aspx?SLanguage=en-us&model=M2N-SLI
The first supported 64 X2 is;
Athlon 64 X2 3600+ (CU),512K,65W,rev.F2,SocketAM2
Second CPU supported;
Athlon 64 X2 3600+ (DD),1MB,65W,rev.G,SocketAM2

The CPU that you are using is not supported.
Since this is a new CPU, you might be able to exchange it for the Athlon 64 X2 3600+ (CU),512K,65W,rev.F2,SocketAM2.
Link to Asus main web site for M2N-SLI.
http://support.asus.com/download/download.aspx?modelname=M2N-SLI&SLanguage=en-us
Suggest you add the above link to you're favorites.

Even you're memory is not supported. As seen in user manual page. 2-13.

Have more questions, feel free to ask.
