Monitor comes on then turns itself off yet power switch remains lit. email popluck18@windstream.net

First, check all connections carefully.

Have you reinstalled the monitor using the disk that came with the system?
Try getting off the internet and turning off your virus control before installation. Also, make sure there are not a lot of programs running in the background. You can check what is running by right clicking on your desktop. You can unclick anything that has nothing to do with the system or windows, such as programs that you have installed etc. You can go back afterwards and recheck them, for immediate startup.

I hope this helps.

Shows display for a second then it goes away

One guy suggested this from "computing.net":
Sounds like a driver issue possibly.
Start in safe mode and once in Windows, go to "Start", then "Control Panel", then "System". Next, click "Device manager". Then, find "Display Adapter". Right click and click "Uninstall". Reboot your PC and see if that helps. Post back if that doesnt help.

The problem could also be a slightly loose, or oxidized, backlight for the monitor. Read this blog about them, if the last suggestion didn't work:

Good luck, and hope this helps.

Monitor says no signal when computer is on.

It can be the monitor, bad VGA cable (check both ends of the connector's pins), the video card in the PC (try reseating the card or the memory). Try this monitor on other PC first or try another monitor with this PC. We need to narrow down the problem first. Please post back.

How to remove the back panel on lg 1718s-bn

scaillos, Try YOUTUBE for video clips of "lcd monitor disassembly" and or "lcd monitor repair". Don't use any sharp edged cutting tools like kitchen knives or you will incur additional monitor repair costs that will be paid to local hospital "ER" !!! Might find interesting stuff at www.ccl-la.com/badcaps.htm and www.badcaps.net , www.lcdparts.net , www.ccfldirect.com Start at lower edge of monitor and look for small slot to inset something to pry with. Good luck. Be careful. 12fixlouie

My Samsung 2493HM Monitor wont turn on, the blue light just blinks, then after some undetermined amount of time the light goes solid and all is well. It took over an hour today to start working. This just...

sales660, Monitor should not be doing that!!! Use Samsung warranty if available. Complain about "premature failure". Examine black screen for very faint displayed image with aid of bright flashlight(test all owners of CCFL back-lit lcd displays should know) to determine full or partial SMPS shutdown mode. Read more in my fixya profile for more that you can do. It could be bad capacitors or a thermally intermittant solder connection that you or qualified electronics tech will need to fix if warranty not option. After reading and surfing net you will understand your CCFL back-lit lcd display and how it works. Your monitor no different than ANY other brand of CCFL back-lit lcd monitor in it's basic design and operation!!! 12fixlouie

I have an hp w1907 monitor i start up puter and after about 15 miniuts the monitor goes black i turn the monitor off and about 5 minutes later i turn it back on and works fine for about another 15 minutes

You could have a faulty inverter board. The inverter supplies high voltage to the CCFL lamp/s, these lamps are mini fluro tubes approx 1,5mm dia. and the length of the screen.
Check the inverter output/inverter board and you maybe able to get parts from

Safe Mode is also Black..

I found your other posts regarding this problem. I believe it may be that your monitor is failing. Do you have another monitor to try? Another clincher is to start the computer, do the login, and when the monitor goes dark, turn off it's power button, and turn it back on after waiting for 30 seconds or so. If the monitor lights and looks normal then goes back off, it's the monitor at fault.
