Question about Bernina Artista 180

Bernina artista 180

My machine will turn itself off and then on again while I'm sewing. Is this a problem that can be fixed? It was running fine before Hurricane Ike hit us. I had it unplugged and covered during the storm and during the time we had not power for 11 days. We had no damage to our home, so I know there was no moisture that got into the machine.

The problem may be unrelated to the storm. Many times the power cord is loose or damaged, inspect it carefully and try another outlet or plugstrip. If the problem only occurs when it is in a certain position, check carefully where the cord enters the machine. Sometimes tightly winding cords can strain them at the point that they are attached. Your problem may be as simple as replacing or repairing the power cord or footswitch cable.

I suspect that Ike and this problem are unrelated based on your information. There could be a short in the power cord. That probably where I would start. If the cord "unplugs" from the machine, I would find a cord like this, and replace it. If not, you could replace the power cord from inside the machine, if you are comfortable making electrical repairs such as this. Anything past this, and you are going to need to carry it to an electronics repair shop.

Hope this helps,
Chad

Also....if the cord does unplug from the machine itself, make sure that it is pushed in all the way and making a good connection.

Yes this still can be fix but better if you can take it to a repair center near you so they can really diagnose the problem with this device and probably there will be some parts that needs to be replace....
