I do not have a skybox problem ... I was looking at Starter relay information and skybox guy posted starter relay info ... I decided to pay for help ... Frigidaire Gallery side by side DFRS26ZSHB2 ... no...

If it's not cooling and the internal lights and fan are working, then the problem is either the start relay or the overload relay. I checked the model number you posted and I didn't get any information for the number. Please double check the number that is posted inside the unit. In the mean time, take a look at this relay kit. It is a combination start relay, run capacitor and overload relay all in one. Usually the start relay will run you around $25.00 alone so this is what I use to repair this type of problem at a fraction of the cost. Again, please check that model number again and I will get you the pricing for the individual parts. It is best to replace all the relays if one goes out. Here is a link to the ERP410 relay kit.

Maytag skybox not cooling need name of place and parts number for serial 10170778EJ. Model MVB1976AAB

before replacing parts. unplug it and from back and under neath get all the dust out, best to blow air in there to remove dust than plug it back in and leave it on number 3 setting for 6 to 8 hours than if cold you can adjust the settings.
or part location is at parts
Good Luck Im pretty sure you won't need to buy part's after air cleaning

Compressor problem, installing the Supco 3-in-1 Relay

Hi, If the 3 posts are top center and bottom right left, the black wire goes top the top center post. The red wire will go to the bottom right and the white goes to bottom left.
If the posts are bottom center and top right left, the black goes on bottom center and the red goes top left. The white goes top right.
If you do not see a capacitor, disregaurd the wires in the 3-1
I hope this helps you. Please let me know if I can assist you further.

Skybox parts # 4387535 installation issues

You don't need to keep the round metal piece or the black wire that you take. The replacement part (flat one) is installed in its place. Put it in first, attach the green wire to it, and then put the two prong piece and install the wires (blue, white and brown) as you took them off the original part.

Maytag Skybox has stopped cooling

the whirlpool part is the oem part and is the best part for your repair it should replace wire for wire and require very little instruction. the 3-n-1 will cause premature failure of the compressor and is not recommended. As far as I know there really isnt a service manual available for the skybox. It was a very limited production product that didnt stay available for very long. thnaks Peyton

Removing compressor from skybox

Maytag never offered a replacement compressor for the SkyBox units. It was not a cost effective repar to make. If you are sure the thermostat is supplying 120VAC to the compressor, you can install a Supco URCO410 relay/capacitor/overload kit. This part should only be installed by a qualified service technician.

Removing compressor from maytag skybox machine

Maytag never offered a compressor as a replacement part for the SkyBox. It simply was not cost effective. If you are sure the thermostat is supplying 120VAC to the compressor, then have a qualified service technician install a Supco URCO410 relay/capacitor/overload kit on the compressor. As with any sealed refrigeration system, the US Environmental Protection Agency requires that a certified refrigeration technician recover the refrigerant charge before accessing the sealed system.
I hope this helped.

Msj2222 - you got your Skybox working - can you help me??

dont have a picture, but when you replace it -- switch the wire one wire at a time---- very easy to do --- the overload relay and cover are on the left side of the back of unit ---- looking straight at the back -- switched item out and works like new

Dipensing tray

I have never had each one fully apart, so I don't know what the exact difference is...all I do know is that from the picture shows the 2 middle dispensers as different part numbers from the bottom or top. I wonder if the only difference is that on the bottom one, there is no way to connect a tray to its bottom like you need to with the middle trays.

Unfortunately, I'm having problems with one of my middle dispensers, not the bottom :(

i don't really have a writen step-by-step procedure written as i only did it once, but i will try to point you in the right direction from memory:

1) WITH THE MACHINE UNPLUGGED take off the rectangular panel off the back of the machine. once off, the compressor is accessable on the left.

2) on the front of the compressor, there is plastic housing with wires going into need to take this apart to get access to the starter relay - it is either 2 or 3 pieces that screw/snap together; it should be obvious enough to get it apart. keep track of where the wires are going on the 3 compressor pins as they will be going back onto the same places on the compressor.

3) there should be a small white plastic piece on the bottom 2 pins of the compressor - that is the starter relay - it should pull off. one sure sign it is bad is that it sounds like it has loose parts in it when you shake it.

4) the wire connected to the top pin of the compressor is the product saver (if you follow the wire back a little you will see there is a small round part with a metal piece - i think it is actually attached to the plastic housing from step #2. you will need to remove this wire and small round part - it isn't needed as the kit has a different style replacement for it. the good news is that you shouldn't have to cut anything as it should be a removable cable with a spade lug on the end.

5) take the new parts from the kit and put them on the compressor pins (i can't remember exactly, but you won't have to use the long red wire which comes in the kit, but you will use everything else). plug the wires you took off in steps #3/#4 and put them back in the same locations on the new parts.

6) put the 2 or 3 piece plastic housing from step #2 back together.

7) put the rectangular panel back on the machine.

this should be close enough to get you there.
