My Epson RX620 will not print in black. I tried the repair options[chat] but the text box would not accept keyboard input, so of course I could not communicate with the techie. Tried 3 times and I imagine I will be charged $14.99 THREE times too--all for nought tho!

Are you using generic/refilled cartridges? That could cause this issue at times. Use an original cartridge and see. Also, the SSc utility suggested by WorldVet is worth a try.

If the printer head in which you install the cartridges is blocked or clogged due to the ink of the old cartidge before you replaced the new cartridge.the head is has to be cleaned from the base of it.for that cleaning the head has to be removed out from the printer.and removing the head out from the printer is not easy job.a qualified technician has to be called for doing this.
but if the head is blocked there r only ten percent of chances that it could be cleared and let the ink to flow trhrough it.
still you can give the head cleaning a try.
hope this helps you...
thanks.

Hello Gord41,

It is probably something in the ink cartidge holes (such as a clog or dust)
Try to remove the cartidge and clean the metal part at the bottom of the cartidge.
Insert it back on the printer and let me know if it worked out,

Good luck,
Dahaka

What you may want to do is a trick we know of where you reset the internal counter of the printer to it thinks its just been reserviced. Follow the link below and then run the free software you'll have downloaded.

http://www.ssclg.com/download/sscserve.exe

After or before running the software to reset the counter, check the black cartridge and the gray cartridge if you have one by removing them and reseating them again. When they're out, check that there isn't anything on the nozzle blocking the ink.

Once this is all done, Print a document and for kicks, go into printer properties this time and tell it to print in B&W or Grayscale.

Let me know your results before refusing this solution.

Thanks,
Worldvet

Are you kidding me, Dahaka!. Instructing someone to clean off a nozzle plate with out any specific cautions about damaging the holes? Do it right. He just stated he ran the head cleaner several times. Pay attention.

Make sure the tape is removed from the new cartridges, remove the cartridges, restart the printer, place them back in, you might also want to clean the cartridge contacts if they are dirty.

Try reseting the machine to defaults from the menu.

I have a Picture mate 100, which I have not used for some while. Just inserted a new cartridge & used "Clean Print Head" function 4 times but still have v poor quality on Black & Yellow....

Hello

1. Use paper recommended by Epson

2. Use genuine Epson ink cartridges

3. Avoid using old or damaged ink cartridges

4. Make sure the printer is on a flat, stable surface

5. Make sure your paper is not curled, damaged, dirty, or too old

6. Make sure the paper type selected in the printer driver is appropriate for the type of paper loaded in the printer.

7. Clear the High Speed checkbox in the printer driver and run the Paper Guide Cleaning utility.

8. If your printer has a lever/paper thickness lever, make sure it is in the paper position.

If printouts are still poor after following the advice above, the issue could be related to the alignment of the print head or caused by a partially blocked print head.

You can check the print head nozzles from your computer by using the Nozzle Check utility. In some cases blurred prints could be caused by blocked nozzles on the print head. Whilst less common, this should be checked to eliminate it as a potential cause.

also recommend that a standalone nozzle check (Self Test) is printed to rule out an issue such as interference from an electromagnetic field, such as that which can be caused by PC speakers.

The printhead alignment could also cause this to happen I also recommend you use the Head Alignment utility, accessible from the Maintenance/Utility section of the printer driver.

I've just replaced the black ink cartridge for my Epson Stylus TX100, ink level is ok as the indicator shows. But i get blank prints for black, other colors are fine. What's wrong with the black ink...

There is nothing wrong with the black ink. Just run the head cleaning for better printing.

1. Go to printer and faxes
2. Right click your printer ( Epson Stylus Multifunction Printer/ Copier/ Scanner InkJet)
3. Click printing preferences
4. Click Maintenance Tab
5. Click Head Cleaning
6. Run head cleaning for 5 times then try printing.

Epson RX620 HAS STOPPED PRINTING YELLOW - NO ERROR MESSAGE - WE HAVE TRIED NEW CARTRIDGE AND CLEARED NOZZLE. ANY IDEAS?

I see the Epson site is a lot of help? When a color stops working and you know the cartridge is new or full you have to trace from the cartridge to the nozzle. The nozzles can be soaked in tap water to loosen deposits, then cleaned with a non metal instrument.Toothpick, toothbrush and the like. You have to look at the feed lines or tubes too,the ink will dry or thicken in them.Last but not least,Epson's site will let you contact them with specific problems.

I'm sorry this is all the help I can offer?

Printer nozzles will not clean even when I put in new ink and ran the cleaning cycle

Depending on how many times you've refilled that cartridge...you may want to go to Office Depot and invest in a new cartridge; they can only be refilled so many times before you have to invest in a new cartridge.

Very Faint Printouts

I find the best way to clean the heads is buy some cleaning cartridges as they have cleaning fluid in them and use them to clean it will take about 10 or more times to clean the heads then put the color ones back in and try again.
Just keep putting it on clean the head don't do a print out till at lest you have cleaned 10 or more times.

Black crtridge will not print. It is a new one. Color carts. all work.

Hello Gord41,

Make sure there is nothing covering the jets on the cartridge. Also how long has it been laying around? it might have dried out, and/or expired. On new printers the cartridges have expirations and it will not use them after a certain amount of time. Also try a printer self cleaning and see if that does anything. If none of that works, it might be the printer. - Vincent

Epsom Rx620 states use originals for ink cartridges

Try to hold down both 'stop' and 'B&W' button when you press the 'on' button to start the printer machine. This should erase the error message and let you print.

3e Black cartridge won't print

I'm not an expert but I go through a lot of ink.. I have found that even with new ink some of the tanks of ink aren't any good especially with compatible which i buy a lot of because it's a lot cheaper (ebay). With that ink I have gone through 10 cartridges in a row before finding one that worked correctly again (I mean out of 100+ cartridges hitting a run of 10 that where bad but the rest good.)

Also, a tech for epson once told me to hit deep clean 7 times in a row before a head check to clean their nozzles.. That has helped with my printer and at Fry's electronics, they have a cleaning solvent in kit, haven't tried it, but i have run alcohol through mine but I'm told that is very ******* the print head (dissolves the glue).

Hope that helped..
