Replace the blown capacitors with new caps with the same value and voltage rating. These caps will be polarize caps and need to be inserted on the motherboard in the correct orientation.

No power. Computer will not turn on. I have relaced the power supply but this did not change anything. Could it be the motherboard?

It could definitely be your motherboard. It can also be a faulty CPU, but that's uncommon.
Check if you see any blown capacitors, especially around the CPU area. A normal capacitor has a completely flat top. A blown one has a dome...

BUT, I would begin with the next simple test:
Unplug the power connector from the motherboard, then short the 2 pins it sat on using a metal tool (eg. a screwdriver). If the computer turns on - it's a problem with the power button on the computer case!

EMachine T2482 Computer won't power on or boot up.

Try removing the power cable from the power supply. Wait 10 seconds, and replace it again. Try powering up the computer. If it doesn't power up, check that the motherboard has power (there should be a LED on the board which is lit up. Of course, check the fuse also in the plug.

If the LED is on, you have a failed motherboard / Switch. If the LED is off, then you have a failed power supply. Beware though, if the PSU has blown, it could easily have taken the motherboard with it.

I have a gateway 835gm desk top

there are a number of things that could be wrong here, firstly reset the cmos on the motherboard, if you cannot find the cmos jumper then remove the battery for 10 minutes (make sure the power cord is removed from the back) press the on/off button a couple of times, this will drain any remaining power from the board and properly reset the cmos, while the battery is out remove the memory, clean the contacts and repace, put the battery back in and connect power, if the machine turns on, job done, if not then it could be something far more serious, check the power suppy if could be faulty, the processor may have blown or the motherboard itself may have blown, the only way to check all the components at once is to get a working motherboard which supports your processor type, the same model would be an advantage

PC has died !! I've disconnected all the HDDs, ROM, RAM, Video Cards and still dead. Power light comes on, CPU fan starts up, NO LIGHTS anywhere on the motherboard, two short beeps, followed by third beep....

based on your information the two beeps is an indication that you motherboard is alive and looking for a memory. is the video integrated or you use a separate video card? i think this has something to do with your video. if your video is integrated try putting in a video card

I don't think it is the chip, or the motherboard, do you know if the hard drive is still good, cause if it isn't it will also cause this to happen.

Uncontrolled CPU fan speed

Make sure you have used the proper Fan connection on the motherboard and that you used all the pins in it. Usually it consists of 3 to 4 pins for CPU fans. Does your Fan have 3 pins? If not then it is not compatible for Fan Speeds. Also check your BIOS for Fan adjustments. Hope this helps.
