Question about IBM ThinkPad T20 2647 Notebook
Could you explain how can I get into the bios. I forget my password. Thanks.
To reset a bios password you need to remove the CMOS battery in the laptop. Here is a link to the manula from the Thinkpad T20:
If you have some technical knowledge then you can try the following procedure. If not then I would recommend leaving the laptop into a professional to do this instead.
First off go to page 66 of that manual. You should see a picture of the battery pack on the bottom of the laptop being removed.Make sure that the A/C adapter is unplugged from the laptop. First slide the switch indicated by the number 1 in the drawing and then lift up the battery.
On page 67 you should see a smaller battery being removed (which is the CMOS battery we are looking for). First remove the screw indicated by the number 1. Then, gently lift out the piece as shown in the bubble with number 2.
After 10 seconds then reinsert the CMOS battery and screw it in again. Then reinsert the battery pack and start the laptop. The bios should be reset and the password should be removed. Any settings that were stored in the bios will be reset to their defaults. Unless you have changed these settings before then they were probably at their defaults anyway.
I hope this can help,
