Question about Cameras

Olympus C-4000 doesn't complete the power up cycle. It goes fine until the number of pictures taken appears on the bottom left for one second. At that point the screen is black and then everthing goes black. The motor whirs for a couple of seconds and the lense barrel stays out. No buttons have any effect. I've put in fresh batteries.

My original post said "I've put in fresh batterise." The suggestion to replace the batteries makes it seem that the "expert" didn't read my comments fully.

Just in case, I did put in another set of new batteries. The results are still the same. The screen comes on showing the number of pictures outstanding but the screen is otherwise black. Then in a second, the whole screen goes completely black.

That's what I thought. I need to take it in and have someone look at it. $10 later I'm off to my local repair place which charges $11 for an estimate. So much for power of the Internet!

You will need to send the camera in for repair, check your warranty if you have warranty contact your dealer or camera maker.

if you are outside of warranty you can get a free repair estimate from
www.advancecamera.com/repair

for example.

Thanks,
Ekse

If still you face problem then there is issue with the gears or motor.
I suggest you take it to an service center, as personal diagnosis is required.

My Olympus x-42 doesn't take a picture. View from monitor is perfect but when I take a picture, all there is is a white screen

Some symptoms of a defective CCD (Charge Coupled Device) include distorted images or abnormal colors, scratchy purple lines, blank or black pictures, and/or black videos with good sound being recorded on the camera's flash card.

When a picture is taken, the CCD is struck by light coming through the camera's lens. Each of the thousands or millions of tiny pixels that make up the CCD convert this light into electrons. The number of electrons, usually described as the pixel's accumulated charge, is measured, then converted to a digital value.

I have an Olympus AS 4000 that worked perfectly until recently, now I can't use the foot pedal. I replaced it with a new one but it doesn't work either.

Hello,
Check the version of your software by clicking on Help, then About Transcription module. If below 4.10, the new RS27 Olympus foot pedal will not work. You will need to update your software. The update is available on the Olympus web site. Use the bottom one, 4.10.3

Where is the self timer on the c-3000 digital camera

try to check this path: Press the Menu button, then press the top/bottom arrows on the Jog dial to select DRIVE. Press the right arrow and press the top/bottom arrows to select. Press the left arrow on the Jog dial to confirm the setting. If you take a
picture without pressing the OK button, the setting will be valid until the Menu is canceled. To take a picture using the selftimer, when the shutter is released, the Selftimer/Remote control signal lights for
approx. 10 seconds then blinks for approx. 2 seconds before the picture is taken. To stop the activated selftimer, press the Menu button.

How do i turn on the auto timer?

Hi, Follow these steps:
1. In any Still mode, tap Settings to open the Settings panel.
2. Tap Self-Timer/Burst repeatedly, until the desired Self-timer icon appears at the bottom of the LCD: 10 seconds—A picture is taken after a 10-second delay (so you have time to get into the scene). 2 seconds—A picture is taken after a 2-second delay (for a steady, auto-shutter release on a tripod). 2 shot—The first picture is taken after a 10-second delay. A second picture is taken 8 seconds later.
3. Compose the scene. Press the Shutter button halfway, then completely down. The camera takes the picture/pictures

How do I set the timer?

Press the self-timer button. It's the bottom part of the cross-shaped button on the back, marked with a clock icon. Each press of the button cycles between ON and OFF.

After pressing the shutter release button completely, the self-timer lamp lights for approximately ten seconds, blinks for approximately two seconds, then the picture is taken.

To cancel the self-timer, press the button again.

The self-timer is automatically canceled after one shot.

Dishwasher problem

My dishwasher Indesit DI67S will not run on the number 1 cycle. It will fill and then when that programme finishes it jumps straight to the drying cycle missing all the rinses out etc. If on the number 2 programme it goes all the way through but then doesn't dry. I've also noticed that the water doesn't seem to be heating up much and certainly isn't drying. Is this the element or something else? Once its reached the drying cycle the light for this just flashes then I have a job to try and reset the machine. It can take endless attempts. Will switching the machine off at the mains solve anything or is it the element?
Thankyou
