Question about Pentax Optio S5i Digital Camera
Hi, my 4yr old unfortuneatley got hold of my camera and now it will not turn on. When pressing on/off switch green light comes on for about 30 secs there are 3 beeps and then light goes off. It appears that the zoom lens is stuck in..does anyone have any ideas how I might rectify this as I have phoned a repair shop and the quote seemed very high just to look at it without any parts etc. Thanks

SOURCE: Optio s5i Lens Stuck Problem
You can try removing the battery and leaving out overnight then putting it back and charging it up then try the power. This has worked for some people but not all.

happened to me a couple times & after recharging battery, still stuck, so manually pushed it in when motor was running trying to close it.

This might sound a bit silly, but as I have posted earlier I had a similar problem As soon as he lens came out ready to take pictures it retracted and turned off. Because i haave decided to buy another camera I held the Optio in my right hand and banged it into the palm of my left hand. No great shock to the camera, but hey presto it now works. Not sure if I can rely on it though......what does anyone else think about this?
