You want to hit the delete button at start-up or what ever key-combo that you see at start-up to enter the bios setup..the bios will open after a sec.. just hold the key or keys to enter. Don't change anything you don't know about, just look for were it says integrated peripherals and turn off the audio.
You should see audio and video in there, don't turn off your video unless you have an external video card your installing to... Just look to find audio that says enabled and disable it if you can't find the integrated peripherals. That will turn off the audio on the motherboard so your sound card has no conflicts anymore and should work without a hitch...If after that you have problems you should reinstall the drivers for your sound card as WINDOWS probably messed up your drivers... :) :)

Please say if this helped your problem....

Question about the integrated audio on an Acer desktop...

Actually, it's more the speakers, you can have the greatest sound card in the world, but plugging in a 10 dollar set of pc speakers is not going to sound good. That's why a good motherboard has Optical SPDIF Out Port, so you can put the sound to a receiver.

It's HD 5 channel, but likely your sound blaster is better.

Card installation

1) Turn the computer on. When Windows has loaded all the way, put the Installation (CD) disk in your optical drive. Load the software.

No disk? Go to the Sound Card manufacturers website, and download the software. Now INSTALL it.

If asked to restart your computer -> NO
Close all windows, go back to your desktop screen.
Turn the computer off.

FOLLOWING Anti-Static Precautions, and computer unplugged from power, open the computer case, and physically install the Sound Card.

Close the computer case, do not forget to hook up the audio wires to your sound card.
Plug computer into power, WAIT 1 minute, turn the computer on.

2) Doesn't have a sound adapter card, and is just Integrated Audio?
Download AND install the audio drivers from Asus for that motherboard, AND Operating System you are using.
(Win XP and Win 7, are two examples of an O/S)

Need further guidance than this?
Post the Sound Card manufacturer and Model Number.
Also post the model number of the Asus motherboard.
Post in a Comment.

Motherboard Sound card problems k8v-mx

I've produced the link for the download, but firstly remove the audio driver and reboot before trying to reinstall the drivers. Make sure you have very little applications running in the background before trying this.

I have an asus mother board no. P5GC/MX-1333 But Sound Driver not avalabel,Pl.send Sound Driver.

If it is an ONBOARD SOUND DRIVER (not a sound CARD installed into a PCI slot on MOBO)
go to ASUS website and download CHIPSET drivers (these contain the onboard sound, onboard video, etc.) make sure you get the right one which matches YOUR CHIPSET.
google "EVEREST HOME EDITION, LAST FREE VERSION, 321" and download it. RUN IT>
it will identify your CHIPSET and everything else.
also, ASUS may have on online tool to identify your CHIPSET.

Can't install sound card

Try uninstalling it, look on the Biostar website and update your bios drivers, if there is a onboard soundcard disable it, it may be conflicting with your current sound card.

Remove the audigy card, then go into BIOS by pressing F2 during POST.
