Question about JNI FCX2-6562-E Network Adapter

1 Answer

System not detecting the disk array.

Hi, in a Sun Blade 2000 we are trying to install a SGI TP9300 through Brocade 4100. The HBA is from Sun, P/N: 375-3157 which is JNI-FCX2-6562-L. In the "OK" prompt the system is detecting the drives but not in the OS Solaris 8. We tried doing all the available commands like, devfsadm, sd.conf, etc. All the patches are installed. Plesase help. regards Pinaki

Re: System not detecting the disk array.

Hi there, You apparently don't have downloaded all drivers and software needed. I'd go to: hardware/docs/Network_Storage_Solutions/Adapters/index.html. Install the software in the following sequence: 1. Download and install Sun StorEdge SAN Foundation software 4.2 packages and patches. See Sun StorEdge SAN Foundation Software 4.2 Installation Guide, 817-1244. 2. Download and install the appropriate JNI 2 Gb PCI Single and Dual Port HBAs packages and patches. See JNI 2 Gb PCI Single and Dual Port Fibre Channel Host Bus Adapters Release Notes, 817-2260. Good luck!

Hello antonhs2000,

I assume you went through the direct instructions located HERE. It does not suggest a restart anywhere on the page, so I would suggest doing that. I have always made it a habit to restart my computer after uninstalling drivers and installing drivers as well just to be safe.

Network adapter not installed or not present message

Restart your computer in safe mode. Press F8 while rebooting. Once in safe mode, go to Start - control Panel - system. Right click on and remove the network card devices (you might see more of them there than you do in normal mode). Then restart the computer.

It should detect the new card and allow you to install the drivers for it. If it still doesn't detect the new NIC card, try powering off the machine. Open the case, and make sure the card is properly seated inside the computer case. Press down on it firmly. Then restart and see if it detects the card.

If it doesn't detect the card, the card might be bad. If you have another card, I'd suggest trying a different one, to see if it recognizes a card that you know is good.

Try these things and let me know how it goes. Thanks.

I need a JNI drivers for redhat linux, do you have any idea regards to this

It is a hard thing. JNI is bought by AMCC.
In a few years ago (2002) the HBA-s are supported under Redhat Linux (6 or 7) but, currently drivers disappears from the manufacturers web site ( , and company policy said that only the current drivers
appears on the web site. I dont found any Linux hba driver.

So it is not supported unfortunately. :(

Computer cant detect device

Try going to add hardware. Then select yes, the hardware is installed. When it gives you the list of installed devices, go to the bottom and select add new hardware device. After that select the advanced option to select "install the hardware I manually select from a list". On the next page, select network adapters. Then click "have disk" you will now have to put your driver in a folder(usually on the desktop). After you select have disk you will browse for the folder which has the driver. Make sure your driver has a file that has the extension ".inf" as this is needed to install the driver.
Hope this helps
