You not configure the access point rightly so re-configure properly and give the mac address properly. one more thing go for tp-link product 501 access point in that one option is ther universesal repeater the just cilck it then give the survey then you get the your modem or router connection then connect then enjoy that only.

Do other wireless laptops connect to your wireless router, and give good speeds? Do you have many wireless networks, other than your own, that show up when you try to connect? It could be interference from other wireless networks in your vicinity.

Hi i bought the smc wireless router and i tries to connect it but i couldnt figure out how to connect it because i have a laptop and my internet is connected from my modem to my laptop but i cant seem to...

I'm unsure of the exact part number here but using the model number I checked the manual. This looks like it's just an access point which extends a current network you have. If you only have your laptop, this device and your internet modem it may not give you the wireless connectivity you're looking for. On a normal setup you would plug your modem into a router, plug your laptop into the router and set it up with all your DSL/Cable connection information as well as wireless on/off. You can then unplug from the router and continue life. with this one it's only connecting to an existing setup (another router or another wireless network) and extending it.
If you are looking for a solution to give you a router that connects to your modem and gives you wireless or adding multiple devices on a single connection I would recommend returning this and getting an all-in-one router such as this: http://homestore.cisco.com/en-us/Routers/Linksys-E1000-Wirelessn-router_stcVVproductId97826160VVcatId551966VVviewprod.htm?icid=linksys-specs-e1000-learnmore-btn&src2=linksys-specs-e1000-learnmore-btn

I have a acer laptop and lost wireless connection, please help.

Hi Blackett..

First, we need to identify the problem, it can be either with your laptop or with your Wireless router or with your Internet service provider.

so, first Step 1. please check whether you have "switched ON" the wireless on your acer laptop or not.(there may be a On /OFF switch on the laptop itself)
Step2. check weather you are able to connect to internet with wires or not?
(which means that you need to bypass your wireless router and directly connect the cable to your acer laptop)
If you are able to connect to internet through wires but not wirelessly then follow the rest of the steps..
Step 3. check whether your wireless is connected in the correct fashion or not... for that view the 2 videos which i have attached in this solution.
Step4. if the above steps do not work then it could be that your laptop or it's driver configuration are not OK.
you can then insert the "DRIVER" disk which came with your laptop and install the wireless driver again.

Here are the Videos....

If still issue is unresolved then please ask me again, i'll be ready to help.

Good Luck ;-)

Access point button on dell router

Like traditional wired solutions, access point give the means of connectivity on a different technology, with the same goal, connection. This way you can freely move the laptop across the house without the need of physical cables maintaining access to internet. But, because the connection is made by radio frequency there a security risk. When you buy a access point you have to enable security to assign a key that you have to enter on the computer trying to connect. If you cannot enable security, anyone who see the signal can enter and use your internet.

Connecting a wireless router to Tiscalli broadband connection

  1. USB modem is connecting a PC USB port with a DSL phone line: CANNOT be connected to a ROUTER LAN (ethernet NOT USB port).
  2. Wireless ROUTER is NOT a modem and it CANNOT connect the Internet (or WAN) LAN port to any "phone line"
  3. Connect the Router Internet (WAN) port to Modem (you need a LAN MODEM = a modem with a LAN/ETHERNET port)
  4. Be sure your internet is running before strting ROUTER configuration with Router Company CD

Help with connection

Hello,

This could be a number of different problems, but first thing I would try is to unplug your router for 1 minute and then plug it back in.

Then I would check to see if you can you connect to the router ok?

If you can connect to the router, and can't get on the internet... I would log into the router and try to refresh your IP from your ISP.

Let me know if you need more help,

Chester
