I have a GE dehumidifier that is about four years old; just recently, it started to shut itself off. It will run for anywhere from 20 seconds to two or three minutes and then it just shuts itself down for no apparent reason. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks for your help.

For some reason it is overheating and shutting itself off. There is a law that all electronics are supposed to have a point to where it automatically shuts off if it gets too hot from a malfunction or loose connection in the circuit board. It is to protect the consumer.
You either need to take it to a tech or get rid of it. Get a new one.
