I have a GE dehumidifier that is about four years old; just recently, it started to shut itself off. It will run for anywhere from 20 seconds to two or three minutes and then it just shuts itself down for no apparent reason. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks for your help.
For some reason it is overheating and shutting itself off. There is a law that all electronics are supposed to have a point to where it automatically shuts off if it gets too hot from a malfunction or loose connection in the circuit board. It is to protect the consumer. You either need to take it to a tech or get rid of it. Get a new one.

I have a GE AHK40LKG1 dehumidifier that is two years old. The fan and display come on, but the compressor will not run. It will start and runf for approx 30 seconds and then shut down, this process just keeps repeating. Any ideas. I do not think it is the capacitor or the compressor but rather the circuit board or the capacitor motor (I do not know how to trouble shoot these items)
