I have a Sony KP-53XBR45 and my wife was watching it and she said it just shut off. When she tried to turn it back on the standby/timer light would flash once and then it would go out. I got home about house later and the stanby/timer led was flashing, I'm not sure if that has anything to do with the problem but that's what was going on. I tried to turn the TV on and when it tried to fire up it sounded normal, you know the click and then the static of the CRT's firing up and such then it just shuts down. It will not allow the power button to be used again for several seconds and when it does allow it I get the same results. I really love the unit but I only gave $300 for it and don't want to put more than $200 into it. Any ideas what it might be? I also have a little convergence issue with the upper right corner, but I don't have the service codes to get into the advanced aiming menu, does anyone have it(providing I can get it fixed reasonably cheap)?

To enter into the convergence service of your sony, follow the steps below;
Press "Menu" on the remote control. Use the up- or down-arrow button to move the cursor to "Setup" and then press "Return."
Use the up or down arrow to move the cursor to "Convergence" and press
"Return." This will bring up the convergence-adjustment screen.
Press the up or down arrow to move the cursor to the line you want to
adjust (either vertical or horizontal for red and blue) and press
"Return."
Press the up or down arrow again to move that line until it converges with the center green line and press "Return."
Repeat to adjust the other lines until all three lines converge and are seen as a white cross.
Press "Menu" to exit the convergence menu and return to the original screen.
You can as well follow these steps;
Press the "Power" button to turn your TV on.
Wait at least 30 minutes before you adjust the convergence in your
television. This allows your TV ample time to warm up before you make
the adjustment.
Turn your TV to a cable channel or to an antenna channel with a picture
that you can see. A music channel with a static shot of music notes
isn't the kind of picture you need. Instead, look for a picture like
what you would see on a movie, sitcom or drama.
Press the "Flash Focus" button located in the front panel on your TV.
You may need to open a hidden compartment on the front of your TV to
access this button. The convergence will repair itself automatically
after you hit this button. It may take several minutes.
Any of the two processes are detailed steps on how to enter your convergence service.

Ck Blue capacitor next to hori out out transistor 2Kv high voltage cap. then where your STK ICs they are big black ics will have part number on them most of the time one of them is bad and will shut tv off always replace both ics and CK all pico fuses around ICs they look like resistors but are fuses they are Green or yellow.
you need to unlpug your set and reconnect everything over and see what it does.if that does not work have a tech check your system.your sony recviever is the culprit let that be checked.good luck
same problem I tried cleaning connections but problem still exists
