Question about Whirlpool LER4634J Electric Dryer
Hi -- first of all, I'll say that I'm NOT the most technically inclined person (nor is my husband).
A few months ago he had to replace the dryer vent hose (?). Oh brother.
He ended up doing a slap-dash job ... and put a couple of holes in the wall too. BUT THE DRYER WAS WORKING FINE.
About a week ago he came home with a new metal vent, some tape, proper tools, etc. Cleaned out the lint from the back of the vent and put a new vent pipe in the wall (apparently the one that was in there was short - only stuck out about an inch from the wall, very hard to attach vent pipe/hose to dryer).
Then I looked on-line and found out how to take the front off the Maytag Gas Dryer. (use a putty knife to pop the top, and then remove the two screws).
OMG!! Dust bunnies from Hell! Lint - packed around the blower and everywhere. I clean my lint trap after EACH load, but the inside of the dryer was a mess. So I cleaned it out as well as I could.
I'd like to know how to take the lint screen area COMPLETELY off the door, so I can really get down into the area to clean it.
But here's the problem -- NOW THAT IT'S CLEANED OUT - IT DOESN'T DRY THE CLOTHES! I have to run the dryer 2 or 3 times because it shuts off before the clothes are dry.
Also I noticed that sometimes the outside of the dryer feels REAL hot, and other times just warmish.
HELP!!!! What's wrong?
Check to make sure no "dust bunnies" got inside you vent hose blocking air flow.

If your dryer is not drying like it once did or if you just have not taken the time to give yourself a clean dryer in a long time then you need to do that. At least once a year the dryer cleaning should take place. Lint build up in the dryer duct is one of the main causes for your dryer to fail.
