I have a similar issue. My ipaq 4355 will not connect to the internet at work. We have wireless access available to the public. My ipaq will actually say its connected to the available network, and I will get to the web page where all users have to click an 'accept' button to agree to the terms of use. MY ipaq just reloads the same page with the 'accept' button each time I click it. If I try to load other pages, is says they are not available. However, if I put my ipaq in the cradle that is connected to my pc (which is connected to the network), it will get to the page with the 'accept' button, and when I click the button, it also reloads the same page with the button again. BUT, if after that I type in another website, such as google, it loads fine and I can browse the web just fine. I want to be able to browse the web without being connected to the cradle. Also, I have the following updates: DSTfixsp34881.exe, Pocket PC 2003 terminal services client workaround (SP27473).exe, ROMandBIOSUpdateSP28375.exe, and WirelessUpdateSP28733.exe. Any ideas or help would be appreciated.

Most probably, you are experiencing the mentioned symptoms because the wireless setting for your PDA are not set up correctly.

Have a look at the following link:

http://bizsupport1.austin.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/lpia8006/lpia8006.pdf

and scroll to the section: "Using the Wireless LAN (H5550 only)". If you are not using the WLAN utility and are connecting to the internet using a different device, try having a look at the sections: "Connecting to the Internet" and "Using Bluetooth"

Hope it helps.

Dell Axim X5 connecting to Belkin wireless router

What is the model of your wireless router? Does it support the B network your pda is?

also try installing ministumbler (wireless scanner program) to the pda

available on this webpage
http://www.stumbler.net/

scan around with the stumbler it should detect the network, if its set to the wrong band, G only for example it wont be detected set the router to mixed B / G mode.

Wireless Connection to the Internet

Hey mate,

So looking at your pda - it has no wlan build in, so you would need to get a wireless adapter for it.

Its pretty simple, install the adapter, plug it in, setup the wireless details of your home and your set to go.

You have configure the wireless connection at that place where you want to get connected. Like you have done at home.
Most of the wireless connection are secure and cannot be accessed.

How do I set up my pocket pc to use wifi both at home and when I am traveling

You can simply follow the first 3 steps of this (http://iris.nyit.edu/oit/academic/FAQ/faq/2wireless/20026/20026.pdf) tutorial. After that, you should see your home wifi name in the list (as in the photo in the tutorial.). If it's not showing up, you can try to change your home wifi settings to accept both 802.11b standart and 802.11g standart. (Because your device only supports 802.11b standart). Steps of changing these settings of a wirless modem changes from manufacturer to manufacturer. I hope this helps.

IPAQ wireless connectivity

always start with the simplest answer first so make sure you have WiFi turned on. Think back, have you changed the wireless security on your router? If so you may need to re-enter the network details or add your iPAQ's MAC address to the access control list on the router. In the bottom right-hand corner of the home screen you should have a small HP Wireless symbol, if you tap it you should get your HP Wireless control panel on screen and can 1: turn WiFi on and off, 2: manually enter the WiFi network details and 3: search for WiFi networks in range.

No, but if you hook up a computer connecting to the internet through that phone line to the router, i think you can share that internet connection with the pocketpc. Reply With Quote

Wi-Fi

You will not believe me but I have a similar problem. I have also Belkin router at home and wireless connection with my e800 works perfect. A few days ago I have tried to connect my PDA to wireless router of my best friend. His wireless network is protected like mine and after configuration of all settings I had no success. The funny thing is that PDA show me the status CONNECTED but I can not use the internet explorer. Like I said, at home with my Belkin it works properly. I can really not explain what the problem is.

Hx2410 general wi-fi questions

Have you been able to connect through your router at home? I'd get that set up and running first. Then doing it on the road will merely be variations on a familiar theme. If you've tried at home but it hasn't worked, let us know something about your home network (what kind of router? using security/encryption?), and about what you've already tried so we can try to help.

HP iPAQ hx4700 Pocket PC

if your PCs connect wireleslly, then I assume you have set up a home network with a router/modem. Sometimes the modem comes combined with a router. If this is the case, then the 4700 has all you need to connect it to this network and access your emails and internet. This is an example of my setup with my 4700... Go to Start > Settings > Connections > Connections > click on Advanced tab at the bottom click on "Select Networks" button Both entries on this page should be set to "My Work Network". Click "OK" > "OK" back to Settings screen. Go back to Today Screen. Now click on the iPaq Wireless icon at bottom right of this screen. If the WiFi button has an 'x' on it then click it to turn it on. A blue light should now come on at the top of your ipaq to indicate that wifi is on. Click on the 'Settings' button You should be able to see your network on this screen - "Configure Wireless Networks" Networks to access should be set to "All Available" Check the box to 'Automatically connect to non-preferred networks' If the Network is available but not connected, then click on it's name. On this next screen you should select next to 'Connects to' - "The Internet" Then click OK If the Network shows 'Available' and not 'Connected' then click and hold on the name of the network and then you can choose 'Connect' Then under 'Network Adapters', on that screen it should say ... My Network card connects to 'Work"
