Question about Canon EOS Rebel G 35mm SLR Camera
I just received a Canon EOS Rebel G. I bought new batteries and film for it, and it still will not turn on. It has been in the hands of a three-year-old, so could it be done for?
You can download the manual from the link below: http://files-upload.com/files/463740/EOS_REBEL_K2.pdf Please update the question & let us know if the information given was useful to you - Good Luck!

I'm afraid this is almost certainly a shutter fault - the second curtain of the focal-plane shutter is getting stuck half-way across the film and therefore not shutting properly. The fact that the other half of each frame is OK makes me think that the second curtain is not sticking totally but just moving very slowly for half of its run, thus seriously overexposing that half of the film. This is a repair shop job - unless you want to try it yourself: it may be just some dirt stuck in the track the shutter curtain runs in, but a fair bit of skill is needed to get to it & clean it without damaging anything!

Canon also uses the low battery Icon as a generic error code. Try taking the lens off the camera. If this fixes the problem the lens needs a repair (most likely the aperture unit). If not then the camera needs the repair (either the shutter or dc-dc converter circuit).

The cameras film door has a very small phillips head screw inside the battery doors hinge. Its a pain to take out & replace if you hands are shakey for this screw is so small. Also installing the replacement hinge would be a little harder to install tha removing the broken one.
I hope this information will help you. A camera shop should be able to do it for free if you maybe purchase some items there. Most shops which are very small and privately owned shops will do this for you

SOURCE: film is not loading
The camera has a capacitor to hold a charge for the shutter and the auto focussing modes. Usually when they get ten years and older they dry up and crack open. When that happens the camera will not operate
