Easiest thing to do, Change the password to your router. Once this is done, it will prevent your neighbor from any further access to your router and of course prevent internet access. Most all routers are simply a local web address for access. Example: 192.168.1.1 typed inside a browser address pane will take you inside the router. Check your router for setup procedures.
Are you able to search the connection in the available connection. If yes then do post what error message prompts when you try to connect it. Check the encryption settings of your router if they are compatibly with the smartphone. I suggest to chooses WPA/WPA2 and also make sure broadcasting mode is set to b/g/n mix mode.
You can also configure it with below method.
Connect your router to computer with ethernet cable then you can access it with following default link. http://192.168.1.1 or http://192.168.0.1 or http://192.168.15.1 or http://192.168.2.1 If you are not able to access it with above ip then check your computers ip address gateway ip is your router ip try with it. Then it ask for user name and password. Type user as "admin" and password as "admin" or "password" or blank. Then you can see configuration page of router. If you are still not able to access router with above ip then you need to RESET it for that press RESET button for 10 seconds it is in back side of router then all settings defaults..Then you can access it with above method.
Then click on WAN settings set it as your internet service provider settings enable DHCP
Then click on wireless and enable it.
. Then click on wireless->wireless security->WEP security there is code password note down it or enter new password then save setting s and restart router. then you can connect wireless with new password. Let me know if you need further assistance. Thanks for using FixYa.
Theencryption key secures your data from unauthorized access.
The router's password is a Passphrase or the WEP or WPA orWPA2 encryption key.
The Passphrase generates the WEP or WPA or WPA2 encryptionkey and this is in the router's wireless settings.
To connect to your wireless router, it needs the router'swireless settings configured ie SSID, WPA or WPA2 encryption key and also thewireless cards in all the laptops and or computers needs to be configured withthese router's wireless settings. Then the laptops and desktop computers cancommunicate with your wireless router.
You'll want to configure your router as a dhcp server. Connect the switch to your router's lan port. Connect the remaining devices to a port on the switch. Your wireless access point should have it's dhcp server disabled. You can only have one dhcp server per network. The wireless can get it's address from the router's dhcp and the wireless client devices will get their ip address from the router, as well. If your wireless access point is a router with a wan/broadband port and some switch ports you will want to make sure that you are connecting to your Asus switch via one of the switch ports.
Be sure that your client devices are configured to get their ip address via dhcp and you should be surfing the interweb in no time flat.
You can secure your wireless network wit WEP or WAP code. For that Connect your router to computer with ethernet cable then you can access it with following default link. http://192.168.0.1 or http://192.168.1.1 If you are not able to access it with above ip then check your computers ip address gateway ip is your router ip try with it. Then it ask for user name and password. Type user as "admin" and password as "admin" or "password" or "1234" blank. Then you can see configuration page of router. If you are not able to access router then RESET it .You can RESET it with reset button it is in back side of router press it for 10 seconds then all settings goes to defaults then you can access it with above link. Click
on wireless settings then enable WEP Security then add WEP code .It is
your password to connect wi fi.Then save settings and restart router. Then you can connect your wi fi network with that code. Let me know if you need further assistance. Thanks for using FixYa.
When you power up the wireless router and the LEDs are ON then the router appears to be OK and this also applies to the DSL or cable modem.
To check if the modem is configured to your ISP settings and connects to the Internet, connect the modem with a LAN cable to your laptop and check if you can connect to the Internet.
Next, the wireless router needs the wireless settings configured and then configure the wireless card in the laptop with these settings so it can communicate with the wireless router. To set-up and secure the wireless router from unauthorized access, follow these steps: - 1. Connect the wireless router to your computer with a LAN cable. 2. Start your browser and enter the router's configuration URL IP address. 3. Enter the router setup, login and password 4. Change the admin password 5. Go to the wireless settings and change the default SSID and turn off SSID broadcast. 6. Setup encryption key the strongest is WPA2 (if not then WPA). 7. For further security measures - turn on MAC address filtering and enter the MAC address of the wireless cards on the computer/s you want to connect to this wireless router. 8. Record the settings you have made and keep it in a safe place and Save the settings. 9. Configure the wireless cards on the computer/s with the SSID and encryption settings of the router. 10. Remove the LAN cable between the router and the computer then the computers should be able to connect to the router wirelessly.
I would guess you are entering something incorrect with your security. If the wireless adapter on your XBOX wants a WPA then the wireless it is picking up has security on it however, it may be incorrectly set using WEP or WPA radius. Here is what *I* would do. Log in to your wireless router and remove all security. Go back to your XBOX and look for the signal for your wireless network. Now try to connect. Wireless connections can be a pain to configure sometimes but start first with no security and work yourself up. IF you can't get it working with security, make up a goofy SSID with NO security but don't broadcast it then you can connect the manual way through your XBOX specifying the SSID (not broadcasted) and no security that should do it. (Just a side note for my XBOX I bought a cheap Belkin 4 port router made it an access point for my existing wireless network and hardwired my XBOX to it. Works fine.)
First, FYI, I hope you mean Switch and not Hub and I am to assume your Router's LAN ports are all in use as to why you want or need the 5 port Switch and that you have Wireless Access Points or maybe your Router is a Wireless Router.
Next, you have to connect your 5 port Switch to your Router LAN port. Next you need a Wireless Access Point device to plug into your 5 port Switch. It would be helpfull that all your devices are of the same name brand also.
Now you have a Wireless network.
