What does it mean when the standby light flashes four times on a Sony TV Model # KV-24FV12 ?

These blinks [flashes] are fault indication (Error Codes). From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit section inside it.This will make repair easy. These are called blinking codes. Make sure about the exact number of blinking of the standby/power LED, by switching On & OFF the set, for at least two times.Count it carefully. If you wish to get some details, check the site linked here.It has details about blinking codes, and fault locating procedure, to many popular brand TVs and other devices.

Hello, why does my plasma tv have thousands of red and green flashing dots all over the dark parts of screen after it has been on for roughly half an hour? if i turn tv off for a while then turn back on...

I had a similar problem but mine was just red specks that showed up in dark scenes. I opened up my plasma and found the adjustment pots that are labeled Vsc, Vy. I then marked the factory default with a sharpie first. Then I lowered the Vy a little and my red specks disappeared. Now my tv looks awsome again like it was new.

Suddenly no picture and no sound all three lights flashing

First make sure to hit the menu button on the TV's remote and if nothing is there then while the set is ON turn a bright flashlight on and shine at angle into the set push the TV menu button if you can see a image then your back light is not working.
Cost of backlights is around 150.00 and power supplies around 100.00.

TV will not come on with remote or power button

The following instructions are for the Emerson EWC1303/1903 tv/vcr. That's the closest match I could find to the Spongebob Squarepants 13' TV
If it's actually in Sleep mode, do the following:

Press the WAKE UP/SLEEP button on the remote
control until “SLEEP TIMER” appears.
To view the time left for sleep timer press the WAKE
UP/SLEEP button twice, then press the MENU button
on the remote control to exit the sleep timer setting

If unsuccessful, try unplugging the TV for 1/2 hour, then plug it in and try turning it back on either manually or with the remote. Either of these should solve your problem. Best of luck to you!

Sony FD Trinitron WEGA KV-24FS100 24" TV On/Off problems

I have spent about 4 hours tonight researching several tech sites and the Sony service manual for the same problem with my Sony KV-32HS510 unit. I was able to download the manual from a website and a TV Repair training lecture paper at .

These TV sets have a safety feature where it will shut back down if a high voltage is indicated. Unfortunately, the electronics for these safety features are not very reliable and give false indication. Letting the unit sit off lets the capacitors leak voltage as well as cool off. These two factor help with the unit not falsely indicating a high voltage condition.

The D Board seems to be the most common failure component, but a 6 times flash could be an overcurrent/voltage failure from the A, B, or M boards. A 7 times flash is a Horizontal Deflection Stopped error with no additional information given in the manual for a fix. Again, in most blogs, the D Board seemed to the source of the failures.

A refurbished D Board part no. A1300319A can be bought for around $200 with a new board at $550 per the site. Then add $100-$200 for an actual TV service technician and you have a repair bill approaching the costs for a new flatscreen TV.

Some tech types posted that they have actually repaired their boards by replacing individual components for around $40. You may find a service shop that can do the same component level repair at the $100-$150 level cost. It turns out that the closest authorized Sony repair shop is 2-1/2 hours away from us. Good luck finding someone close by.

We were able to get our TV to come back on after dozens of attempts and plan to leave it on until it dies all together. I may attempt my own D Board replacement when the time comes.

Good luck!
