Question about Simmons Outdoor Yardage Master 801445 Rangefinder

1 Answer

Broken lenses Both plastic lenses on the end away from your face have got the 4 tabs broke off. The tabs are to hold the lens in place to seal against dust. The lenses are still in the finder but are loose. The finder still works fine but I don't think letting dust in is a good idea. What would happen if I split the finder myself & glued the lenses back in position? I don't know how long the lenses have been loose because I just bought it off ebay. The seller doesn't seem to want to do anything about it.Thank you,Terry

Re: broken lenses

I hate to tell you that I have the same problem but only one, no solution yet!!! Mine doesn't really work fine... When you look inside it is like blue... it actually makes the LED much easier to read but in low lite situations it makes it impossible to use...

Good Luck..

My yukon sightmark sm650 rangefinder laser is not working. The golf shop sold me a "Parview LS650" after looking around the internet, it looks exactly like the sm650. To my question....the laser...

Take it apart by peeling away rubber cover and then remove two mounting screws. Carefully split cases and see where parts are arranged just in case they shift. Laser and lens frequently get jarred loose ESP in a golf cart environment. Place laser and lens if loose back in mounts and gluon in place with superglue or equivalent. Make sure to get no glue on lenses. Reassemble and it should be good to go again. Total time. Ten minutes maybe.

The target image does not appear in the veiw window.

With the battery cover off, place the battery in the unit correctly, push the battery in, hold it in, and hit the fire button at the same time. IF the unit comes on, then the problem is the metal tabs that the battery touches are bent too far in. Take a small flat screwdriver and GENTLY bend the battery tabs out a little. If the unit still doesn't work send it in for repairs.

Apparent moisture inside my bushnell pinseeker 1500

If when you look through the eyepiece and see some lite yellowish, lite greenish, oily looking wiggles, (sometimes black) spots you have thermal burns on the LCD display. This happens when the eyepiece cap isn't used and sunlight damages the surface of the display. The unit was left pointing skyward for too long. Most players take off the cap and don't use it. Bad decision. Bushnell can repair but, about $80+shipping......4-6 weeks without unit

Screen is black but pointer is still lit

Yes. I know exactly how to fix this because I had the same problem. Most likely what happened was the ribbon that attaches your screen to the motherboard has gotten loose or fallen off. All you need to do is remove the small screw (the only screw) on the back near where you remove the batteries. Then pop off the top rubber part on the front. Now you can pull the entire center piece out from the plastic case and you will see two ribbons. Make sure each one is secure to the motherboard. Put everything back in the casing, put the screw back in and it should work. It worked for me.

Bushnell 1500 Pinseeker Tournament Edition optics problem

This is what happens to Pinseekers when the eyepiece cap in not used. Sunlight is focused through the lens right on the surface of the Liquid Crystal Display.(LCD) The heat generated burns into the surface of the display. The black spot happens when the pinseeker was left pointing skyward, when the sun is high, for a hour or so. The LCD can be replaced. I would have it aligned if it needs it. Mail it in to bushnell for repairs. mtg

Sight target needs adjustment

I also had the same problem my Yardage Pro Compact 600. We live in the desert and I often leave my golf bag in the trunk of the car. One day the display on the rangefinder was shifted up so I assumed that the heat affected something. After checking with Bushnell, their answer was to ship it in and couldn't guarantee a cost.

So I also peeled back the rubber grips from the bottom - you only need to go far enough to unscrew the four screws. From there you have to snap apart the case so the top shell comes off (be sure to remove the battery and cover first). Once you've done that, unscrew the top circuit board (mine only had 2 of the 4 screws from the factory). Be careful not to unplug any of the 3 ribbon cables.

Move the top circuit board aside. Looking from the top front, there is an assembly at the back that holds the laser/reader, it is held in by 3 screws, 2 on the back left and 1 on the back right - remove them. Carefully remove the assembly leaving the 2 ribbon cables in tact. The 3rd (largest) ribbon cable is taped to the center sighting barrel. Gently remove the tape, the ribbon cable disappears into a **** in the back of the sighting barrel near the eyepiece, it is connected to the LCD display. Now flip the unit around and looking from the back eyepiece, remove the 2 screws near the ribbon cable. Now you should be able to lift the eyepiece up and away from the sighting barrel.

The ribbon cable and LCD window at the end of the cable should be glued on two corners inside the eyepiece (worse case the LCD is loose as mine was because the glue had deteriorated). First scrap out the old glue from the LCD and eyepiece frame, being careful to not let the remnants drop inside the eyepiece or you will see these in the viewfinder once you get it back together!

Using thick superglue and being careful not to touch the LCD and leave a smudge (or forget how it came out as your yardage display will be backwards!), put a tiny drop of glue on each lower corner of the eyepiece frame. Now carefully position the LCD window and push down to the bottom of the eyepiece frame. Try to center it left to right as near as possible (mine had a little gap on each side) while holding the LCD against the bottom edge. Keep it there until the glue dries.

Now reassemble everything, making sure the sighting barrel and especially the laser/reader assembly fits snugly in its cradle before reinstalling the 3 screws, then install the top circuit board. Snap the top cover back on and before putting the 4 cover screws in, put in the battery/cover and test it. Remember if your display is reversed you installed the LCD backwards!
