Question about Computers & Internet

1 Answer

I am trying to uninstall my Norton software and it will not allow me to. Is say that other programms depend on it, even though I have uninstalled everything I can find with the Norton or Syntec name on it. It is a real nuisance because several pop-up come with every file I open telling me that Norton has a licence problem. Please advise.

Norton anti virus

The best anti virus programme in my view is Norton Anti Virus. If Norton tells you a programme is a potential problem, it is.
You can download from Symantec the uninstall programme that will remove Norton.

Try the "last good configuration option - that might work.
If it does not you can try running in safe mode, and from there try to uninstall any remaining norton files from the control panel's uninstall software icon/

Mistakenly downloaded Norton 360 and now I can't uninstall it. The face page is blank and it pops up on my main screen all of the time .

If you click Start then Control Panel then Programmes and Feature, look down the list until you see Symantec Norton 360. Select uninstall.
That will remove all of 360 but if it is not there, it has been deleted and not uninstalled. Re install the programme and uninstall it as per my instructions.

Installation problem

Uninstall the trial version using control panel uninstall.
Insert the Norton install disk. It will start automatically. Depending on the operating system on your system you may have to click 'OK' to allow the program to install, follow online instructions. Make sure to register your version so that you can get the latest updates and any user alerts and notifications.

Norton may have blocked the programs from Canon.
Try uninstalling the Canon software, ie, zoom browser, digital photo pro etc and reinstall it.
If you are asked about allowing it say yes.

Unable to remove all legacy symantec information in registry

When I see and hear the word symantic I know thats Norton. Norton is notorious for detecting virus that isn't there and refusing to let you uninstall it. What I did is down load a software called your uninstaller, I installed it, and even though your symantic is not listed in your control panel for uninstalling, this software is outstanding and will find it. it even goes into your system files and registry and finds any remnants of the program and completely destroys it. In your search window type in Uruninstall, I think thats the name. Or just plain your uninstall. Its been awhile but its wonderful. I never installed Norton again. Good Luck.
