I have the dreaded blue

I have the dreaded blue screen on start up on my PC the stop is caused by a faulty device driver on the Kernal Stack. Error codes 0x000000C4 (0x00000000, 0x00000002, 0x00000000, 0x00000000)
It also tells me to disable BIOS memory caching and shadowing. The boot up in safe mode and scan by AVG showed virus's which have been deleted.
sorry but I need help as I am unable to do any of this.
thankyou

Hi Clacybrown,

Well, you hit the jackpot with this one -- virus plus the BSOD :(.

The good news is that you can boot into safe mode and that you are virus-free. The next step that I would try is to restore your system to an earlier point in time. Assuming that yours is an XP machine, boot into safe mode. Then click, "start", then "run". In the box that appears, type "msconfig", without the quotes. Then select "restore your system to an earlier time", then follow the prompts. Select a time that is before you started having problems.

Please let me know if this fixes your problem; if not, there are further steps that can be taken. If you feel it is appropriate, I would much appreciate a "Fix Ya" rating on my solution. Good luck!

Bob
