Question about NEC LT 260K Multimedia Projector

NEC LT260's shutting down

We purchased a lot of NEC LT260 video projectors and have had at least 10 of them stop working in the past 2 months...the lamp hours are low, so it is not a lamp issue, although the error seems to indicate a lamp error. Tey are dropping like flies...funny thing is they are dropping at the same rate that we installed them in...approx - 2 a day...any help would be appreciated.

Thank you -

I think I have solved this issue with my LT260K. I too had shut downs after 5 minutes of operation. It roughly followed a replacement of the bulb. I repaired stereos in the 70's and 80's, so I was not going to let the projector get the best of me without a tear down. I cleaned the fan blades, checked their operation. I checked the continuity of the thermostat on top of the bulb bracket, but found no apparent failures. I did find a possible loose connector in the middle of the projector as it seemed loose as I was disassembling the unit (see 1st picture). In the 'old' days, the power supply area could get hot and make cold solder joints. I found what appeared to be heat damaged solder joints on the auxiliary power board (Lamp power). This is the one that is back right of the projector opposite the power switch. It is a vertical board that solders into the horizontal bulb power board. I resoldered these and I am up and running. USE CAUTION, I would leave this to a trained professional to repair. This requires major disassembly.18d84c8.jpg

Projector says out of range

The native resolution on the 6100 is 800x600. I have had it recognize 640x480 and 1024x768 though. Check your computer to make sure the resolution is 800x600. Also set the refresh rate at 60htz, if the refresh is too high it can give out of range errors.

NEC LT260 PROJECTOR NOISE

To open this projector, you need to undo six screws at the underside of the case. That means you have to turn the projector upsidedown.
Pls note that one of these scews is a little hidden under the carrying handle.
After removing the screws, return the projector to it's normal 'up-side' up, standing position.
Remove the bulb cover srews and remove the bulb cover.
Lift up the top cover carefully starting from the front then all together.
The cooling fan is mounted very near the bulb assembly.
Carefully check the fan blades for any obtacles, wires or even a broken fan blade, that could be causing the noise.
