Problem for Canon PowerShot A310 Digital Camera

Powershot A310 not able to sense the objects

I am able to view pictures/video (taken already) from the memory card,But when I try to take new photos/video (after putting the camera in video/photo mode) I am seeing blank screen,i.e My camera is not able to sense the objects.
Can you please help me in this regard.

I have tried with different battery/memory card ,same problem.

-   i have the same proplem as "guest" acording to canon this and other models are in for a recall and you can get a free repair regardless of warranty status-   brookm

This sounds like it might be a defective CCD imager. If so, Canon should fix this for you for free, including free shipping both ways. This is regardless of your camera's warranty status. Please check the following two links for more info:

Normally there are two reasons for the given problem.

1). Bad or defective CCD. and/or

2). shutter not working.

in the first case the only solution is the replacement of the CCD. and in the later case sticking of shutter blade, non functioning of shutter blade will cause the problem. This can be rectified by sending it to some repairer.

camera worked yesterday. it powers on but will not take a picture. it flashes but no picture was taken .. i can view other picture on the card

After turning camera on, the screen has a gray background, with viewing area in the center of the screen, a horizontal line like this above the area 1------>2 with the viewing area below the horizontal line split in half with the left half dark and the right half white. There are also a few icons along the top border of the screen. It will take a picture when I press the button and flash, but the result is a blank screen. If I push menu, I get the record, setup or my camera. ????
