Question about HP PSC 1610 All-In-One InkJet Printer

Printer cuts off lines

My problem is that when I print on my all-in-one 1610 printer,  every other line cuts off the top half of the sentence. We've  checked the cartridge and reinserted it and the ink levels look fine. I've tried changing the font and sometimes that works but it's a gamble. Help Me Please...please advise.

my hp 1610 does this as well. funny i search this and get it as my top result in google. i put in a new cartridge and it fixed teh problem for probably about 75 pages, but now its back worse. replacing half empty cartridges is getting costly.

i have also ran teh alignment test and cartridge cleaning numerous times and get no results.

okay, for all of you interested i only buy hp when it comes to regular document printing. Hp printer, paper, and ink!!!! All of it is HP!!!! I am in school so print a lot...change the ink about every month so, its new clean HP cartridges and HP paper!!!!! I have also done all the cleaning in the settings menu multiple times!!!!!! the alignments and cleans!!!!!!!!!! ALL of it and the problem still presides!!!!!!!! I change the cartridge and sometimes the print is perfect but most of the time it cuts off something. Usually print from WORD 2007 or 2003 or the internet if that helps....

I had this exact same problem - probably about a week after I put in NEW cartridges. I took them out, wiped the bottom off with a tissue (black and color) and put them back in. Did a test print and everything looks fine now.

Alot of times this particular problem is due to a bad print cartridge. Suggest buying a new HP brand cartridge if not currently using OEM product.

Printer cutting off words

Is this happening with every program you use to print? If it's just a single program, try changing the line spacing. It sounds as if you've got the line spacing too small for the current font and it's cutting off the bottoms in order to print the next line.

Is your question the top or bottom one? You have cleaned the metal contacts on both the cartridge and on the machine with a soft cloth, right?

My printer will only print the top or bottom half of words

This sounds like your word program and not your printer. The information from your word program is not being sent from the DLL correctly. Try a different word program or try reinstalling word.

Will only print top half of sentence line

You may have blocked print head nozzles.
Try the printer maintenance to clear the printer nozzles.
After several deep cleaning attempts and there is no improvements in the print then a new printhead is required.
A new printhead maybe expensive and it maybe more cost effective to purchase a new printer.
