My Canon A610 turns right on and seems to be working. Then when I press the button to take a photo, it turns the camera off. The low battery icon is not lit. I've tried more than one cards in case that is the problem (It isn't). I've tried different settings (Auto, Portrait etc.) but it does the same thing with all of them. It was working with no problems up until right now.
maybe it is not related but cudgegong said in another forum: To resolve the annoying "change the batteries" problem. Goto menu, choose yellow menu, select file No. reset to ON. Turn camera off and back on. Voila fixed.

great camera - but only had it 3 years and flash not working now. Salesman at London Drugs, where we bought it from, says not worth repairing. I find this hard to believe - very expensive for only 3 years working!!

Canon Powershot a610 dropped, lens stuck half way, won't move, gives E18 whenever one puts it in the mode to take a picture, no view through lens. Is the camera toast?
