Ok I think for sure that you are missing a CD driver. You installed XP. XP runs fast but it sucks when it comes to doing stuff automatically for you. All you need to do is google "dell drivers download" and find the dell website. look for you model. and then download the driver. you can see which drivers you are missing by going to control panel and search for device manager. I'm pretty sure thats what it is called. good luck. please rate as I need ratings thanks
You need to install the audio driver. (and others if they are missing when you open the device manager)
If you download and install a program called Drivermax, it will help you find any missing drivers for your system. You can pay $10 and use it for 30 days, or you can download 2 drivers a day for free.with it. It's a great little program. Get it here: http://www.innovative-sol.com/drivermax/
You need to install the Windows operating system first.
Then you need to check what drivers that are missing or not working.
Then you need to download the drivers for your model laptop. You will need to get onto the Internet from a working computer to do this.
You can go to the Compaq/HP WEB site to download the latest drivers for your model laptop that suit your particular Windows operating system (ie, Windows XP, vista etc.). Go to www.compaq.com
If you used restore disks from the manufacture it would include things like drivers. However if you used an off the shelf xp disk it wouldn't and you would have to find drivers from Microsoft or the manufacture. It sounds like you are missing the drivers, but to double check do this: right click on my computer select properties click the hardware tab and then the button at the top device manager. If you see some yellow exclamation marks or some red 'x's you are missing the drivers. And if control panel says there is no device your missing the drivers. It seems as though LG doesn't offer any support for this model on their site so you need the drivers from another source try a Google search or go to a web site called driveragent.com they have tons of drivers but it does cost money to get them from there.
