Question about Philips Magnavox PR1906C 19" TV

1 Answer

Picking up other sounds

I not sure if it"s the television, but at times I hear like my neighbors voices on my television. I know that sounds crazy, but it's becoming a problem since my girlfriend and I like to watch adult movies on television on weekends. We hear comments like "turn that off,or that's all you guys all do. I don't understand because we have the sound all the way down. i feel like my privacy is being violated. I need a solution. Thanks

Hi good_eng_ale,
This symptom needs to check with an experienced technician because the fault is either the following :
1. IF transformer - mis-aligned Sound IF transformer will produced weak sound, this will happened when the unit aged.
2. Coupling Capacitor- once dried or leaky, the same symptom will produced.
3. Faulty Sound Ouput IC.

Screen blank can only hear voices & struggling to switch it on it gives sound like drum beats

You have some bad capacitors. Look for values at 160volts to 200volts at 1Mf,2.2Mf,3.3Mf or 4.7Mf. These are good candidates for your failing TV. Another one to look for are the 25volt to 35volt 100Mf caps. Good Luck and thanks for asking!
