I think You should replace the GEAR that makes it turn, or just do what 'techman' Says.

Emmerson turns on and counts down but no cooking happens.

If your Emerson microwave is turning on and counting down but not actually cooking or heating the food, there could be a few potential causes for this issue. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot the problem:
  1. Check Power Levels: Make sure the microwave's power level is set to the desired level for cooking. Some microwaves have adjustable power settings, and if it's set too low, it may appear that the microwave is running but not cooking properly.
  2. Door Interlock Switches: Microwaves are equipped with safety interlock switches that prevent the microwave from operating when the door is open. If any of these switches are malfunctioning or not engaging properly, it could prevent the microwave from cooking. Ensure that the door is fully closed and the switches are working as intended.
  3. Turntable and Support: If your microwave has a turntable, make sure it's properly seated on its support and able to rotate freely. If the turntable is not turning, it could result in uneven cooking or no cooking at all.
  4. Magnetron Malfunction: The magnetron is the component responsible for generating microwave energy for cooking. If the magnetron is faulty or not functioning properly, the microwave may appear to operate but won't actually heat the food. A malfunctioning magnetron usually requires professional repair or replacement.
  5. High Voltage Diode or Capacitor: The high voltage diode and capacitor work together to convert the high voltage output from the transformer into microwave energy. If either of these components is defective, it can prevent the microwave from cooking. Again, professional repair may be necessary.
  6. Control Board or Circuitry Issues: A malfunctioning control board or other electronic components could also lead to a situation where the microwave appears to operate normally but doesn't actually cook. If you suspect control board issues, it's best to contact a professional technician.
  7. User Manual: Double-check the user manual for any specific instructions or troubleshooting steps related to cooking issues. The manual may provide guidance on common problems and their solutions.
If you've checked these common issues and the microwave still isn't cooking, it's advisable to stop using it and contact Emerson customer support or a professional appliance technician for further diagnosis and repair. Microwaves contain high-voltage components that can be dangerous to work with, so it's important to prioritize safety and seek professional assistance if needed.

Bosch microwave oven, turntable not working, food not heated

Even if the turntable isn't turning, the oven should still heat the food but it will be uneven cooking. I would suggest that the unit is not "microwaving" This is usually the high voltage capacitor, fuse or diode failure. You will need knowledge of how microwave ovens work and specialist tools to test these. If you don't, I would suggest you get a tech who does. There are extremely high voltages in microwave ovens.

Cynthia. Look at this diagram http://www.searspartsdirect.com/Kenmore-Wall-oven-Parts/Model-79047842400/0582/0125400/P0508004/00002.html

The odds are that microwave is going to be a little complicated to fix that problem. You have to pull the microwave out and take it completely apart if you want to change anything. This is a high level job that requires security torx bits. I wouldn't really recommend trying to fix this one yourself because it's a really hard job. If you're gonna take the time out to do this job you're gonna have to uninstall it out of the cabinet and disassemble the entire cabinet off the microwave. I would recommend ordering the door switches, main board and turntable motor and replace them all if you're going through that effort.

Microwave timer works but will motor will not run/cook.

If everything works on the unit, but you do not receive any heat or possibly the turntable does not turn you have a faulty magnetron (controls heat) and a faulty motor (controls turntable). You would require service on the unit, if parts are available. Some microwaves are so small in cubic foot size, that manufacturer's do not have parts available for purchase/repairs.

Oven cooks but turntable will not turn, so it cooks unevenly. How do I reset the keypad so it goes back to normal factory presets, in case I entered something that stops the turntable revolving. Is there...

The manufacturer has set the rotational plate in motion at the same time the microwave tube is energized. They work together as a team. At no time should the plate be idol, unless you remove it completely, and then only the center spindle will turn by itself. It is possible for the rotational spindle in the center of the oven to break, but that is unusual unless some sort of pressure (like stopping it when it was moving) was applied. Also, it has been reported that some individuals tend to put items with too much weight or too large for the oven to manage; thus damaging the rotator. As long as the oven still provides Microwaves to cook your food, it is still OK. Years ago, there were no rotating plates and using the energy was all it took to get the job done. For even cooking, just manually stop the oven at times and turn the food to avoid over heating in one spot.

SANYO EM-D9550. Turntable turns when off but not when cooking.

That's sounds pretty strange!

Since I don't have any service data on Sanyos, I'd have to speculate.

I would guess that one scenario that could cause it would be if the turntable were turned off via the control panel, but there was a switch or switch mount problem.

I would refer you to their support people:
