Question about NEC PlasmaSync PX-42VP2A 42 in. Television

Open Question

NEC PX-42VR5G 42

Thanks for your suggestion. From what I can see, there is only one small glass fuse on the PSU board, which is ok. The set attempts to power up, then appears to shut down again, approx 30secs later, returning to standby.

If you disconnect the PSU from the line board, then the PSU appears to stay on, suggesting a problem on the line board somewhere, or maybe the PSU has a fault, not ouputting the correct voltages. This would depend upon whether or not the PSU is open collector type or not, which is information I do not have.

The set was manufactured around 2005 I believe. I have been in touch direct with NEC, who inform me that no schematic drawings or service manual data is released for this model. Without this information to hand, I feel I am clutching at straws, as you have no knowing of what voltages or waveforms should be present at the various TP's on the boards. Any further suggestions you have would be most welcome. Many thanks, Dave.

SOURCE: NEC PX-42VP4DA Won't stay on.

It may not be the power supply. It can also be another board/module that causes the PS to cut-off.

SOURCE: NEC PX-42VM3A 42" Power problem

Yes the clicking noise does confirm a power supply related issue. The clicking noise is caused by the relay switches turning themselves of due to over load of certain circuits or it was not reset after a previous power surge. Rest the tv by unplugging the set from power supply, hold for 2 minutes and plug it back in. See if the problem persists and let me know.

Location of fuse on Vizio M422I-B1 power board

F9901 is the main fuse, its black in color, sits right behind the power plug, if its blown check the bridge rectifier if its ok then I would look at the power factor correction circuitry. This is a very simple strait forward power board to trouble shoot.

My UMC tv x216/17c-gb-ftcd-uk does not turn on with power applied. How can I test to find the problem

Hi boys,
Hope you are still here. :)
My tv UMC x216/17b gb-ftcd-uk 21.6" doesn't turn on anymore. No LED light but consecutive clicks on DVD area.
The power supply is working (12V), I unplugged the backlight screen board and the DVD unit but still not working.
So I decided to replace the main AV board.
I found on eBay the board with the same code B.LT712C 8373 but for UMC 23" or other makers with different screen size.
Do you think this board will gonna fit on my UMC 21.6" as long as is the same part code ?

Toshiba Model 51H84. Power breaker tripped during a storm. Breaker reset, and TV will not power on. Is there a fuse? Is there a reset button of some sort? How should I proceed? Thanks.

Your TV has a fuse on power circuit board ( that is a standard part). You need to resemble your tv to get the fuse ( make sure to disconnect all power and antenna before doing this service). Usually any tvs use a clear glass cover on fuse ( you can see a small conductor inside the glass). Replace the fuse if the small conductor gets broken. If after the fuse replacement, you got no joy on tv, the receiver part could be get problem also ( due to storm attack) and need to repair / replacement.

I hope the storm only attack your TV fuse.

Good luck

Hi. We're having power outages in TX right now. When power in house came back on, our Philips Home Theatre System (HTS 3544) seems to have lost all its power. We've plugged and unplugged the unit, and...

These are prone to power spikes...and for that reason have a fuse located on the power supply board...known as fast blow fuses...which are glass and easy to see if they have blown..sometimes all you need to do is replace the fuse on the rear of the unit if you can locate a fuse cap...just unscrew and replace....Always unplug televisions and audio equipment and routers during power outages and thunderstorms as a preventative to blowing psu panels on electrical devices connection to your house mains for this reason .

Does anyone know if there is a fuse for the 12 volt system in these ac/dc models. Mine came on for a second and then stopped when I attempted to use the cigarette lighter function, yet will still work on...

Yes! there is a fuse located inside the set on the main board, make sure your the set is unplugged before you remove the back cover, next follow the 12volt line cord to the main circuit board, there should be a small gma glass fuse right where the wire is. Check the polarity of the 12volt cord to make sure it will work.

Simply fails to switch on. Mains fuse OK "Special" fuse of PSU board OK.

Check the lamp door. There is an interlock there that will prevent power-up if the door is open at all It should be a small post on the door that enters the projector to compress a micro switch. If the post is broken or the door is not completely shut, the switch won't activate and there will be no power.

If that is not the case, please update this and we'll lok further.

No Power

Hi, remove your power supply from the case, onen it and remove all dust from it. Inside you should see a glass fuse, if tis is blown replace it and all should be ok.
If the fuse is intact test it with a multi meter, [this can also be done across a light and wires with a battery] If you find the fuse intact and still have no power then replace the PSU with any simalar watt unit. The only brand I would advise against is Ritmo as these are not a high quality PSU. There are quite a range of brand names which can be purchased on Ebay.

New psu for Shuttle XPC SB81P won't work!

Try these:

Remove the PSU from the case.
Plug it to power.
Turn it on
Using a paper clip, short circuit the green wire pin with the the black wire pin on the 24 pins connector.
If the PSU fan start, remove the clip. The fan should keep spinning. That means that the PSU is working.

If the PSU is working, then the power up pins on the mother board might not be shortcircuited by the front panel switch.

Connect the PSU to the motherboard and to the power, turn it on. On the motherboard, locate the power up pins and short circuit them with the paper clip. If the computer powers up then there is a problem with the power on switch.

If the PSU does not start at all, return it.
If you can't return it, unplug from power, open it (warrenty voids!) and look for a fuse that looks like a one inch glass tube with metal caps. inside should be a wire. If the wire is broken, buy a new fuse in Radio Shack.

Hope that helps.
