When turned on the projector switch on back of unit, the power light on top is yellow and the temp & lamp lights are red and the fan does not come on. That is why I think the problem is beyond the lamp. Nothing happens when pushing the power button on top which has a green light.

  • Larry1945 Oct 30, 2008

Per your instruction, I reinstalled the lamp and now the power, temp and lamp lights stay dark, but the power button and control lights are green. When I hold down the power button however, nothing happens. I turned of the unit, reinstalled the old lamp and got the same result. Could it be a switch issue?

  • Larry1945 Oct 30, 2008

How do I perform that check. I am uncertain how you check to see if the lamp is open?

This is a more serious matter in which you should not be messing around with it anymore
as this now should be looked at by a tech to determine the exact cause of it not starting up
it is most likely a electronic component causing the relay , fan and start up not to occur
please call an electronic repair shop near you to resolve the problem , and if you still have a warranty then use that

thank you , and I just didn't want you to void your warranty , because they will do that to people just to make more money from them ,

a friend of mine went into his tv and he got a void on his warranty , they wanted $140 for a tv he paid $200 for, so that souldn't happen to anyone! again thank you!

Some times, it may take a while to heat up before the projector can start. Maybe that is the issue? Anyway, I would recommend giving the BenQ tech support a call.

    From the user manual:

First, make sure all screws are tight. Loose screws can cause a bad connection leading to a malfunction.Do not power on when the lamp cover is removed. After replacing the lamp, you need to reset the lamp hours.:
    1. Press and hold the Exit button on the projector for 3 seconds to display the total used lamp time.
    2. Press the MENU button on the projector during the lamp hour message. An adjustment message will
    appear.
    • Press < or > to reset lamp hours.

If the temp light is red and the fan is not running, the instructions require that you palce a service call..call BenQ Tech support at 866-600-2367

Hi. I have a Benq PB7210 and the color wheel is broken in it. I am having extreme trouble finding it. Can anyone tell me where I can buy it or if there is another model of which I can switch the color...

I would contact BenQ's web site and find the dealer list. From there you should be able to source a spare part but they may not be available as they don't break in normal service and are not a stock item requirement.
Hope this helps.

Lamp burn out 3 time in 16months

clean out your projector. if there is a lot of dust and/or no air flow, the lamp will overheat and die. it needs to cool. use canned air and blow out any and all dust from inside the projector. make sure the fans work. also, don't buy lamps from "bob's lamps". get it from a reputable benq dealer.

Could be a faulty lamp or placement issue. Are the fans operating in varying speeds? Have you had the lamp verified as working by the supplier or someone else who has this model.

Hi cvijr

This can only one of two things - the lamp or the Ballast ( lamp's powersupply )

Normally the PB6100/6200 lamp's has got markings on the lamp itself when this flickering occurs.

Take out the lamp by unscrewing the lamp door at the bottom. Then look for any vein like looking marks in either black or white. Or even a bubble at the bottom end of the lamp's shaft.

If you can spot anything out of order , then the lamp will need replacement.

If not , then you'll know for sure that it is the Ballast that is in need of either repair or replacement.

Part Numbers :

Ballast :5D.J8612.011

Lamp : 60.J8618.CG1

Hope this is of help and thanks for using Fixya !
