Question about Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-P92 Digital Camera

1 Answer

Camera seems to operate, won't record photos

My Sony DSC-P92 appears to operate correctly, but at one point simply does not record the photo. Previous photos show on the display; when taking a new photo, the sound works, the shutter seems to work, and the lens cap has retracted properly. However, at playback, the picture shows totally black (no detail whatsoever). The lens and the camera housing show no clue to the black photos. The camera was not dropped or exposed to water.

There are two possible causes for the problem. 1). a bad CCD or 2) shutter not working. in both the cases you have to contact pro. repairer to fix the problem.

Sony DSC-P92 driver needed

You neglected to specify the operating system for which you want the driver. Sony has drivers from some operating systems here.
You don't need a driver in order to download photos from the camera to a computer so you can burn them onto a CD.
The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program, such as Picasa.

If you really want a driver, take a look here to see whether Sony has one for your operating system.

Sony DSC P92 appears to be consuming power rapidly

What type of batteries are you using?

If you are using zinc carbon types, then a short life is to be expected.

If manganese types are fitted the it seem a little strange.

Is it still under warranty? If it is, then you should discuss your problem with the supplier.

Lithium batteries have more power but cost more.
