Acer AL1715 Monitor - screen distortion, discoloration, several times each day

Each day my Acer AL1715 monitor screen becomes discolored, blurry, disorted and useless. This happens repeatedly without any apparent pattern in terms of length of time it's been turned on, etc. For now it returns to normal after awhile but I'm very concerned that eventually it won't.

Help!

Certain versions of the Acer AL1715 monitor had a problem with the VGA socket. Specifically, the plastic case around the socket was not wide enough. The plastic lip interfered with the plug and so the plug does not seat properly. This causes all sorts of intermittent problems. The version of the AL1715 with the problem with had the UPC code of 0 99802 19889 3. I fixed several of these monitors by shaving off the excess plastic with a Dremel Mototool. A hand file would probably work as well. You have to remove the plastic back to get the clearance to do the job.

Is it in warranty if so did you ask acer support?Or you could check the settings[the buttons on the screen(if it has any)].Also in some cases it can be the videocard/chipset.

Kids ran magnet across screen

Magnets do not affect LCD screens.
If your screen is a CRT monitor then a magnet will cause this problem.
Try turning off the monitor and back on several times and the degaussing coils on the monitor may fix this problem. If the screen is still discolored then take your monitor to a TV repairer and they can degauss your monitor with a more powerful degaussing tool.

I have verticle lines on my screen and is changing color

Typically, when you see that it means the connection is being broken between the graphics card and the LCD screen. Unfortunately, you have to take apart the laptop to diagnose the connection problem. Often it's just a loose connection socket; some laptops are easier than other to gain access to the graphics module. Most of the time it is located underneath the keyboard.

What does the discoloration look like? Is it a pinkish or reddish color tint. This usually is the LCD inverterespecially if it is that slightly pink color and when it comes from the bottom of the screen. I could be wrong....

Gateway monitor pixels discolored on monitor

This happens when you keep a device close to monitor which uses wireless technology or signal(Cell phone, wireless router or modem). Also try to make distance between speakers and monitor, as speakers contains magnets and that causes such issues.

Discoloration problem

There are several problems when discoleration happens to moniters. One is that a connection inside the moniter becomes loose so you can just try and jiggle the cord around a bit to see if that helps. if now go into your moniters menu by pressing one of the grey buttons and first try going into your color options and adjusting the settings in there. IF that doesent work try going into an extras setting or Other settings, im not to sure what its under but find the demagnitize option and select that.
