yes i think the maid had something to do with it ,if you leave it cracked the warm air well turn to ice,so unplug it get your hair dryer and defrost the ice,put everything back in,make sure the door is closed and see how it does,if it still does not work ,let me know and we can go from there-mike

I have a whirlpool side by side fridge and the freezer was cold but everything thawed and the vent in the bottom is iced over can I fix it or what can I do

Turn the freezer or the whole thing off. You can try blowing that area with a hairdryer for 15 minutes to melt the ice. Switch it back on and leave it 24 hours. If it continues to freeze up you need a service engineer to replace either the defrost heater or defrost thermostat.

Ice forming at bottom of freezer

I had a problem with Ice forming in the bottom of my freezer on my whirlpool side by side freezer-refrigerator. Turn out to be a plugged drain in the bottom of the freezer. That drain goes into a tray under the whole unit. During Defrost, condensate drops from the contents of the freezer on to the bottom of the freezer and goes through a drain tube to a pan underneath. Should that drain tube become plug and the water is left standing in the bottom of the freezer, it will turn back to ice after the defrost cycle is over. Once the drain tube is clean out, the problem goes away.

Our Whirlpool, model GX5FHDXVY04, constantly has ice on the bottom that has to be removed. Do you know why this keeps happening? There is also water under the freezer, on the floor, at times. It's...

Hello there,
When your refrigerator keeps builds ice at the bottom, then it means there is a problem with the defrost settings. The ice that melts off is what you are collecting from underneath the freezer.
The components to test are the defrost thermostat, defrost heater and the defrost timer. One or more of these components would have gone bad and need to be replaced.

the defrosting mode could a problem with the defroster timer. as for the bottom one if the top is not cooling the bottom one wont either. the freezer fan is what also keeps the bottom frig cool. the defrost timer should be on the bottom frig close to the ligth.
