My nec nd-2500a cannot read DVD+R

make sure that the dvd burner is getting enough power test all leads that are attached to the dvd burner including electical extensions and make sure they have a secure connection or just replace them there might be bad/faulty or the drivers may have been corrupted or you might have a virus run your antivrus program you might have to physically unplug the leads for this cd/dvd burner then plug them back in this should activate the found new hardware wizard or you might have to uninstall then reinstall your DVD/CD or uninstall the driver then reinstall for this device Click start control panel administrive tools, computer management, device manager scroll down cd-dvd rom drives you might see a yellow question mark ? right click you will have options to update driver, roll back driver,or select properties general troubleshoot, select driver click to reinstall drivers click update driver or uninstall then reinstall if this does not fix the problem it might be a registry problem if you cant see your disk drive in windows explorer
Close all open programs

Click on Start, Run, and type regedit and press Enter
Click on the plus signs (+) next to the following folders

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE

SYSTEM

CurrentControlSet

Control

Class

{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

This folder is the DVD/CD-ROM Drive Class Description in the registry. Look for any of the following names in the right hand column.

Upper Filters

Lower Filters

Upper Filters.bak

Lower Filters.bak

If any of the above keys shown in step 4 are listed, right-click on them and choose Delete

After deleting the keys, close the registry editor
Reboot your computer

Open My Computer and check to see if your CD or DVD drives have returned. You may also want to open Device Manager and verify that the yellow exclamation and error code on the CD or DVD drive is gone.
hope this helps

Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)

Since the driver for all optical units is the same Windows one it means that there's corruption in your system.
Run a full malware scan and after it perform a Repair install.

Hi friend,
Firstly you update the DVD/CD-ROM drives form device manager and restart the system,if nothing happning in that condition you need to reinstall the DVD/CD-ROM drives through CD or net.

I only can write with 4x maximum while dvd could

DVD burners will only write to the maximum stated.

Also if you are using 4x DVDs then that is all they will burn at without often giving errors when used.

Trying to burn a 4x DVD at lets say 16x can cause burn failure or data corruption.

Cd's on the other hand can burn at lower speeds than they are stated.

To burn DVDs at higher speeds your burner needs to be capable of that speed

NEC DVD_RW ND-2500A will only read and burn DVD's, not any type of cd

You could try updating the Driver.

The driver and instructions can be found here:

http://www.opendrivers.com/driver/214402/nec-nd-2500a-dvd+rw-firmware-1.06-free-download.html

Have you contacted the manufacturers site and a)checked out their FAQ's and in the last resort Contacted their Support for help?
