Question about Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-F707 Digital Camera
Help! I own a Sony DSC-F707 and it will not record images. It will turn on, let you review previous images or clips, even zoom in and out … but when you try to record an image it will automatically shut off. Some times the flash will pop up before it shuts down but not always. The batteries are all fully charged, I even tried replacing them with a brand new one, but no change. I've read the manual from front to back but there is no mention of this kind of error, and I've contact sony support. They just keep telling me to replace the batteries.
Sounds like the CCD has developed a fault. I had a F717 which had similar faults but this turned out to be a batch of faulty CCD's which I know the F707 shared. This maybe why Sony are not keen to get involved as it will cost them money. JVC had a similar problem with some of it's Camcorders using a similar CCD and they replaced them FOC even those well out of warranty. Keep trying with Sony and mention the CCD and serial number of the F707 and see if it is one of the faulty batch.
