Re: remote control

Before you get another remote, just check if there is really a fault in yours. Why not take the remote to a TV or VCR dealearship and see if it works on another Hitachi VCR? If it does not, then the Remote is at fault. Ifit works on another machine, then there is a problem with the InfraRed Reciever on the VCR.

Re: remote control

If its the original remote for the VCR then NO there is no reprogramming for that device as its built in. You may need a new remote and its available at

Not sure?? DVD is playing in machine but remote is not responding. put new batteries in. still not responding. do I have to reprogram dvd remote? or do anything special before placing dvd in machine??dvd...

Do you have a universal remote? If so, there will be a series of buttons for selecting the device you are trying to control. Press the DVD button and the proper codes should be sent. If you have any other button pressed, the codes for that device will be sent and will probably not match your DVD player.

Cant seem to get my remote to respond to the recorder

Panasonic remotes have two channels. Press OK and simultaneously 1 and hold for more than five seconds. Then try to power up using the remote. If that doesnt work press OK and 2 and hold. One of those will control the machine. Make sure you have good batteries in the right way.

How do I replace a remote control

The remote to our Vizio TV broke. I priced a replacement thru the Vizio company & it was going to cost approximately $45. I went online to Amazon & typed in the search bar Vizio & the model #. Bingo - a actual Vizio remote for $3 plus shipping! Maybe you will be as lucky as we were! We tried the Universal remotes - did not work.

We have a RCA VCR Model VR622HF Manf. 9-18-98 that suddenly won't turn on manually OR with remote. I am an experienced Electronic Tech with 43 years @ ATT. I measured the resistance at the AC Plug and read...

If front display lit up when vcr plugged in that means power supply is working and issue is in system control section, and if front display remains dark while vcr plugged in wall socket then power supply is defective.
As you know its an old model vcr so I do not think spare parts would be available any more, I found good option for you to fix this vcr.
Click link to get same vcr in working order for $40 that can be used to obtain either power supply or any other board/ parts to repair your vcr.
Hope these info will help you.

Remote control-function stopped working. After batteries were replaced and it still didn't work I assumed it was the remote, so I purchased another one. Remote-function still doesn't work, so I can only...

Yes it will most likely be the remote sensor on the VCR. If you find where the actual point of entry for signals from the remote control, you should be able to trace the circuit back to the pc board. You should find an IC, chances are it's failed. Of course it could be the sensor itself, but I doubt it. If you put the IC number into Google, you should be able to find out the cost and other details, also if it still is made!

Lost codes for v.old universal remote

All universal remotes work about the same. Try this.
Here you go. This will work with most all universal remote controls. If you don't have the code do the following:
Automatic Programming
With automatic programming, the remote control tests all the codes available on the Code List and assigns the correct code for the selected device. Although this method can be more time-consuming, it eliminates the need to look up codes and enter them manually.

1. Turn off the device with which you want to use the remote control.

2. Press and hold the corresponding button on the remote control
(TV, VCR, SAT, DVD, CAB or AUD) until POWER INDICATOR illuminates. It should take a couple of seconds for the light to remain solid. The remote control is in programming mode.

3. Press and release power button. The POWER INDICATOR flashes once and stays on indicating the unit is in Power Scan mode.

4. Press CHANNEL up or CHANNEL down repeatedly until the device turns on.

5. When the device turns on, press OK to store the code.

• To exit without storing the code, press BACK.
• T he unit will search for the next code or the previous code if you press
CHANNEL up or CHANNEL down after the device turns on. (go slow you need to press OK when the TV turns on) if you mess up turn TV off and start over.
6. Press any other button. If the device responds, the remote control has been programmed. If the device does not respond, repeat steps 2-5.

HR-A37U remote won't work

It's not unusual for remote controls to stop functioning either partially or fully. To determine where the problem is, you will have to go through a process of elimination. The easiest way to find out where the problem lies is to purchase an inexpensive universal remote at a nearby store. Try the different codes and see if you can activate the VCR. If it works, you have the option of keeping the remote or returning it for another one if you cannot access all the functions of the VCR. I have seen exact replacements online for under $20.
If it does not work then the trouble is most likely in the VCR itself, unless the proper code could not be found in the universal remote, in which case you need to try another brand or model.
The only other suggestion I have for you would be to unplug the VCR from the AC power for at least 5 to 10 minutes and then plug it back in and try the original remote again.
I hope this helps, good luck.

Panasonic NV-SJ205 Changing Rf ?

ok. This is a really easy one.
All you have to do is hold down the menu button on the remote control for more than 5 seconds, If that doesnt work hold down the power button on the remote control for more than 5 seconds. If that doesnt work hold down the power button on the actual vcr unit for 15 seconds. The first method should work for Panasonic's fine.
This will then display your current rf output.
You can then change the output by using the up and down arrows or the channel up and down button on your remote or the vcr unit.
Press menu button to save or the same button you used to bring up the rf opposition eg power button on remote or the unit.

all the best. Top tech
