Detected a problem with sound device keeps coming up

Hi,
Please correct sound driver install. If you are correct install then go to control panel and sound and audio device click and check all points. If all thing ok then one time windows format may be solved your problem. Because some file miss but not error show that time format windows and solved all problem. If not format windows then you are check sound to another computer, you identify what a problem.
Thanks..

Please help. I formatted and installed Windows XP on my kids machine. All is well except no sound. Device Manager shows Multimedia Audio Controller is not installed. I have no idea what driver I need....

Yes, pull the card out and then see who makes it, visit their support website, download and install the drivers and you're back in business.

OR better yet try the Windows Update. Windows might be able to detect the device and download the drivers automatically.

Gateway e4100 "no audio device"

Hi John,
The multimedia audio controller is the sound driver.
Create a folder on you're desktop.
Download this driver for the Gateway e4100 PC.(Scroll down to motherboard downloads, & scroll a bit more until you see the sound drivers).
http://support.gateway.com/support/drivers/search.asp?st=pn&param=2800471
There are 2 drivers listed. Read the description under each. One lists motherboard names. After downloading into the folder run the exe within the folder. Open device manager. Right click on the multimedia audio controller once & left click update driver.
Windows hardware wizard will open. Click No, not at this time. Than click the next button. Another window will open. Left click once in the circle next to, Install from a list or specific location (Advanced). Than click the next button. Again, another window will open. We want to remove the green check mark next to, Search removable media (floppy, CD-ROM...). Click the green check mark once & it will go away. Click the browse button & point windows to the uncompressed folder within the folder you stored the sound driver. Once high-lighted click ok. Windows should install the driver software & add the sounmax icon into you're control panel. It will also install an icon down by the clock.

Good Luck!
If you still have troubles let me know.
Mike
