Problem for Sanyo VPC-E760 Digital Camera

Please can you help me. My camera is practically brand new and all of a sudden it wont turn on. When I press the power button, the blue power light comes on and then it starts flashing and goes of again. The screen however does not come on at all and the lens does not open. Please can you help?

- My daughter camera is doing the exact samething...after several attempts we finally made out the screen flashes "lense error 306". This carmera has not been dropped?
