This phone does not have a model number and I know it is quite old. What I would like to do is go into "Phonebook", go into "Add Number", and erase all the numbers on that list. How did they get there and how do I get rid of them?
Thanks for your help.

You need to go into the settings and reset the owner pin number. It may be listed in the security section. If you can provide more information, like the manufacturer make and model, then it would be easier to assist you.
What do you mean by "recognizes old phone number"? If the previous phone number has been entered as "own number" somewhere it will be stored until changed manually, but this is used for convenience only, the phone operates on the number from the SIM card...
Best idea is to do a factory reset if you got it from a friend, this way you'll get rid of any old garbage and settings.
Hi,whats your mobile brand and model? If it is Nokia, try default security code like 0000 or 1234 or 12345 .If it does not works reset your phone by using the Master Reset Code.To get this code at free of cost visit the site Unlock-Free.com here they are providing this Code for some old model Nokia DCT and Alcatel old phones and reset. There you need to specify your Model and IMEI number of your phone. Note:The IMEI number of your phone can be found printed on the phone underneath the battery.

If it's the SGH-D900i phone that you have... Go to Menu... Settings.... Phone settings... Slide Settings... in there you have to change the "Down" from 'Continue operation' to 'stop operation'... save and slide the phone shut, that should once again lock the keypad.
Yes that's possible with every phone just go on settings, security phone settings on automatic key-gard(keyboard) and turn it off. But before you need to know the code for locking and unlocking like in all nokia is green button and *.Not sure for samsung.
