Question about Air Tools & Compressors

Electric Air compressor

I have a 4HP 12 gallon pneumatic air compressor that is not blowing out air. The compressor motor is still working. Cannot make out the model because air compressor is old and labels are either barely readable or faded out. It is an Air America Type model. Could you please advise to where I should start to find problem. Also, no familiar with connection compressor pump. Compressor was given to me in this condition. The pump has an auto and off selection with 4 terminals: end terminal connections are L1 and L2 and the middle terminals are T1 and T2.

Is it building pressure in the tank and just not going out your air hose ? Or is it not building any pressure in the tank?If it is building pressure than the problem is narrowed down to your outgoing channels which does simplify things.(-8 Either something has got clogged in the outgoing airway, or there is a good possibility that the pressure regulator needs new parts if you can find them or just replace it. Have you tried turning the regulator output up or down? It may be stuck all the way closed which would shut off the air coming out.If your not building any pressure then the piston/s may need new rings or the cylinders are scored and need machine work. That part works basically the same as the piston/s and valves in an automotive motor. Except instead of pulling a fuel mixture in and igniting it for power and then pushing out the exhaust, it pulls in air and pushes it into the holding tank compressing it to X# of psi with the assistance of a check valve.

I just bought a craftsman pneumatic 1/2-in drive impact wrench. And used it with my craftsman 4-gallon 1hp air compressor tried to loosen the bolts on my car wheel wouldn't loosen them help

Pneumatic tools are rated in cfm (cubic feet per minute). Your 1 HP air compressor is rated at probably not more than 3 cfm while the 1/2 " impact driver needs at least 8 cfm, maybe 12 chm of air.
The compressor must provide more chm than tool rating needs.
It is a problem, by the time you look at five horse power air compressors and larger, a lot of electric power is needed. A circuit of 220 volts, 20, 30, or more amps would be required to run those large expensive compressors.
If you can, return the air tool and get a good electric tool instead.
Leave those high air volume air tools to shops that are so equipped to use, or invest if you must.

By safety valve you mean the tank overpressure release valve? Find the opening size in the tank first. Determine your compressors top psi it reaches when fully allowed to fill to max psi. Order valve that is rated ten psi more with that size fitting. Any brand will work, you just need that info and you can easily get one. It's hard to find exact parts for compressors but they are all basically the same setup

Chicago pnematic 8gal air compressor will not start

Well it should be limited to a bad pressure switch, overload/overtemp switch(if it has one), or a bad motor. You can check for power with a multi-meter set on a/c volts and see if you have power to your motor. A more 'backyard' approach would be to jumper your power directly to the motor, bypassing the switches, but that could be dangerous especially if you left your switches bypassed because the compressor would never shut off and eventually hopefully blow your overpressure valve.

I have a 21 gallon 4hp peak motor Central Pneumatic oil lubricated Model 47065 air compressor and it will not go to over 20 psi and it will just keep running

Possible that there is leak on the system or the piston/rings/cylinder has worn out. Also check for oil within the unit. Check the compression of the cycle and if this is too low it means that there is wear and tear and will require a overhauling and reset.

Emglo air compressor too much pneumatic fluid, how to determine correct amount?

What are you putting the oil in? The compressor takes regular non-detergent oil, and it should have a dipstick or a site glass. The guns on the other hand, take the pneumatic oil, and most of them now days, don't even take oil. Only the older ones. I haven't changed or touched the oil in my compressor in 20 years. Any of them. Check it out.
