Yeah I think its the IC when I opened my monitor and leave it like that
the OSD didnt show up, at forst I improvised a heat sink for it but it inly work for a couple of days
when the problem came back that when I opened my monitor and placed a dedicated fan blowing on it the problem never showed up. I think the IC overheats easily damn designer never thought of placing heatsink on it coz when I touched the IC man its way too hot no Im looking forward to replcing it, not sure if there available in the market mines an AOC 771S Flat CRT

SOURCE: the main menu screen keeps popping up

mammyang, Most likely you will find that a problem exists with a dc source inside the monitor. What type of monitor is this unit, CRT type, or LCD type??? What is the "date of manufacture" from rear of monitor?? If unit is 4 to 6 years old, you may want to look into trading it in for a new wide screen unit. Or you may want to visit YOUTUBE and watch some video clips (useful and informative ones) that deal with repair of, or refurbishmint of LCD switch-mode-power-supplys and ccfl inverter supplys, that are the most common cause of this type of problem. If you are totally not into the DIY fixit thing, then just trade for new. In any case, get back here with a reply to my response after you do the "YOUTUBE" research and tell us what you have decided to do along with the answers to the above questions. If your monitor is LCD type you may want to do some reading in my (12fixlouie) and other fixya tech's profiles "buddymc" and "budmrtn" for more options that might be open to you. Hope to see a return comment from you. 12fixlouie

Osd unlock

To unlock the OSD (onscreen display control), turn off the monitor and then press and hold the Menu button on the monitor. Then press the power button to turn the monitor back on. Do not release the Menu button before pressing the power button. This same step (holding the Menu button and then pressing the power button) enables the OSD lock. The menu button is the top button on the right side of the monitor (on the bezel). The power button is the bottom button of the group. AOC has the documentation for the 2036sa here: . See page 20 of the User's Guide for the OSD lock procedure. The picture of the monitor buttons is on page 19. The guide is available as a PDF on the AOC site. Note: you will need Adobe Reader or a similar program to read the file.

I hope this helps.

The model number on my monitor is tft19w80ps it's a black 19" lcd gateway monitor... all it's menus are in a foreign language and there is something that pops up every 5 minutes or so that I can't get rid...

Don't know about the 5- minute pop-up, but this is how you get it back to english:

  • Turn the monitor on, connect a VGA cable and make sure it's receiving a signal.
  • Press "MENU"
  • Press "> Speaker +" repeatedly to get to the globe icon, and press "MENU"
  • Press "> SPEAKER +" repeatedly to get to "English" and press "MENU"
  • Press "AUTO" to quit out of the menu.

My Monitor AOC CRT Model F1770 is always adjusting on menu itself.. pls help

Try to unplug the power cable from the mains for about 10 minutes then replug and try again.
Make sure all cables are well connected.
Try to test it on another computer if possible.
If that doesnt help then it sounds like a hardware problem with the monitor and you wont be able to repair it your self.
