Yeah I think its the IC when I opened my monitor and leave it like that
the OSD didnt show up, at forst I improvised a heat sink for it but it inly work for a couple of days
when the problem came back that when I opened my monitor and placed a dedicated fan blowing on it the problem never showed up. I think the IC overheats easily damn designer never thought of placing heatsink on it coz when I touched the IC man its way too hot no Im looking forward to replcing it, not sure if there available in the market mines an AOC 771S Flat CRT

mammyang, Most likely you will find that a problem exists with a dc source inside the monitor. What type of monitor is this unit, CRT type, or LCD type??? What is the "date of manufacture" from rear of monitor?? If unit is 4 to 6 years old, you may want to look into trading it in for a new wide screen unit. Or you may want to visit YOUTUBE and watch some video clips (useful and informative ones) that deal with repair of, or refurbishmint of LCD switch-mode-power-supplys and ccfl inverter supplys, that are the most common cause of this type of problem. If you are totally not into the DIY fixit thing, then just trade for new. In any case, get back here with a reply to my response after you do the "YOUTUBE" research and tell us what you have decided to do along with the answers to the above questions. If your monitor is LCD type you may want to do some reading in my (12fixlouie) and other fixya tech's profiles "buddymc" and "budmrtn" for more options that might be open to you. Hope to see a return comment from you. 12fixlouie
