Riding tractor blowing fuse

I have a 2000 Poulan Pro lawn tractor with the 18.5 Twin V Intek Briggs engine and last weekend it blew the 15 amp fuse. I replace the fuse and it will start the mower and I can use it for some time... but after I shut it down and attempt to restart it, it blows the fuse after the engine starts to run (5-10 seconds). I have looked for any shorts but have not found any... and that should cause the fuse to go immediately anyway. I replaced the seat switch and ignition (matching parts from a like unit) but the same thing happens. I do not know how to diagnose if the voltage regulator could cause this? Thoughts?

Unfortunately I had not received the post from 4x4papa prior to doing a few more tests. I had checked the switches and for the grounding. I had not disconnected the battery. All good suggestions. --What I did do was disconnect the voltage regulator and start the unit on battery only power. It ran fine and did not blow the fuse after several restarts or running for a few minutes. Once plugged back in it blew immediately. I ordered a new volt. reg. and installed it... no problems yet.

Put a volt meter on the battery when running. Shouldn't be higher than 14.5 or so. if so, it's overcharging. If you checked for shorts, did you run a continuity (ohm) test with a meter to see if the fuse is going to ground in anyway....do this. Disconnect battery completely, ground cable first. With fuse removed check each direction of fuse wires. If getting an indication of going to ground, unplug ignition switch. still grounding? check starter solenoid with ohm meter for grounding. With wires disconnected, check between battery side of solenoid and body of solenoid where it mounts, or a good chassis ground. (you might check that the solenoid mount is grounding to the chassis first) Then between the starter side. And the small connector from the ignition switch. It should not be going to ground at all. The ignition switch sends the ignition to ground to stop the engine, and the safety switches go to ground to prevent starting when in improper position. One of these switches could be faulty as they also allow voltage for ignition through when in proper position. Check switches. If two blade, it should open or close when operated. If 4 blade, one side is open, the other is closed when operated. With ohm or continuity meter, connect to two blades on 4 blade switch and see if they connect. Push button and see if there's a change. Try the other two blades. You should see a change on both, but different. Again, two of the blades (connectors) will see each other, two will not when button pushed. Same on two blade switch. Either open (see each other) or closed when button depressed. If not, bad switch. Some of these riders came with a 30 amp fuse, by the way..... 4x4papa

What is the air gap between ignition coil and fly wheel on a poulan pro pp4218 avx?

For practical application you can just use a new business card or 3x5 recipe card. You don't want to use same card too many times though because thickens of card will change with use, and exposure to liquids. I don't remember right off hand the exact specs but I do know we have used this method for years.

What year is Kubota L175 serial #14973?

The Kubota L175 series tractors were manufactured between 1973 and 1976; one option is to call any Kubota dealer and give them the serial number. Option #2: https://www.kubota.com/default.aspx
Option #3: check the I.D. plates around the engine, frame, or axle- sometimes they give the manufacturing stamp which includes the date.

Install Plow on Sears tractor

Going with the garden tractor, I have one. The cutting deck should be removed primarily because the deck could drag on snow. Some of the pivot points for the blade go where the mow deck mounts. There can be an additional fixture to mount on the body of the tractor frame to operate the lift for the blade. There can be additional brackets to support the blade and offer a 4 point mounting system.
