Hello, FixYa

I have normal tv model CNT 2588 code 981, remote control was out of order and I tried to buy a new one from many places in UAE, Suadi Arabia & Egypt but I failed due to it is old model and no spare parts. So I use the tv function through Satel Decoder and use tv main power button for swithing on and off. It seems that caused a problem and tv now could not get power to switch on. Would you e-mail me with the repair manual including the Elect.Circuit to try to repair the problem. Also if you can arrange to send me a new remote control model CNT 2588 code 980. Since the TV Picture and sound are still in an excellant condition, please e-mail me you kind response with the cost if any to send you my Address and money.

Thanks in advanced.

Please my tv with on the standby mode when i try to put it back it couldn't the indicator now goes on and off with picture show please help

The standby light on a Sony television indicates when the television is turned on and operating, or turned off and in "standby" mode. However, this light also serves a secondary function: indicating when there is a problem with the television by flashing. When the standby light begins to flash, there are two reset options that can be performed to resolve whatever issue it's indicating -- a power reset and a factory reset

POWER RESET
1. Turn off your TV
  • 2. Unplug the television from the electrical outlet. If you're using a surge protector or power strip, disconnect the television from the strip itself. Only by disconnecting the power cord from the outlet can you ensure no power reaches the TV during the power cycle.
  • 3. Leave the television without power for at least 60 seconds. This gives the television enough time for all components to power down during the power cycle
  • 4. Plug the television back into the electrical outlet. If you're using a surge protector or power strip, plug the television directly into the wall outlet instead. The surge protector may otherwise interfere with the power-up cycle, especially if it is old or damaged.
  • 5. Turn on the television. If the blinking standby light continues, you'll need to move on to the factory reset process.

  • FACTORY RESET
  • 1. Turn on the television.
  • 2. Press and hold either the "Reset" or up arrow button on the remote control.
  • 3. Press and release the "Power" button on the front of the television, while keeping the "Reset" or up arrow button on the remote depressed.
    4. Release the "Reset" or up arrow button.
    5. Allow the television to reset after the "Reset" message appears on the screen.
    6. Make no adjustments to the television for at least one minute after the reset has completed. This is to allow the television time to finish auto-configuration and initial set up.
7.Turn off the television and unplug the power cord from the electrical outlet.
    8. Wait ten seconds, then plug the television back into the electrical outlet and turn on the TV.
    9. Follow all on-screen instructions to complete setup. These are the instructions displayed the first time you set up the television, for configuring channels, menu language, time, display properties and more.

My matsui tv 28WNO5(A) will not turn on from standby

Try pressing the small reset button on the back, it works, and you will not loose any stored information which caused the unit to go in the stand by mode.

    or
Have you tried turning it off for an hour and then turning it back on. This happens to me quite often and leaving it off for a while ususally allows it to come back on. Also have you tried to press the TV/AV button on the remote as sometimes it switches to TV mode when its on standby and then standby won't work as its on TV mode and needs to go back on to AV mode. Basically just press the AV button on the digibox remote and then try standby.

    or
if the batteries are removed and left for about 20 minutes before being replaced again, everything works as it should.
    or
if any of the above suggestions does not work then you have to open the unit and on the main board of the tv there is a thin mini tube light like component called fuse you will have to replace that fuse .the fuse is very very cheap and you can easily get it at any electronics shop.and if still the unit does not work then there is a major fault in the power supply board and should be taken to the service center for diagnosing the fault that it is repairable or not.but i hope the above information provided will definately help you to solve your problem.

I pressed the sleep button by accident and the pic and sound went off and the stand by/timer red light started blinking. what does it mean?

Depends on how many times it blinks, just count the blinks Example: if it blink 2 times then pauses and blink 5 times then the code would be 25 and so on

Once you have this code, please post it.

Sony tv wont turn on, standby light just flashes

I had the same problem guys! This is what I did:

My T.V. wouldn't turn on. The standby light was flashing six times, then four, then seven...I called Sony and they told me to unplug it for a couple of minutes, then try it again...didn't work....BUT, I have found a solution:

Try unpluging your T.V. for 4 hours+, then turn it back on. Worked for me! It's called a "hard reset" by sony. I had my T.V. unplugged for the whole day though.

No picture and tv automatically turns off

Here are the blink codes. Two blinks - B+ over current protection (OCP), unit goes to the standby mode then displays the 2 blink fault. Could be a short in the power supply of any of the circuits. Three blinks - B+ over voltage protection (OVP), unit goes to the standby mode then displays the 3 blink fault. This is also a problem in the power supply circuit, check T603 and R672. Four blinks - No vertical Deflection (V STOP), Screen goes to a single horizontal line then the video signal muted. Check IC1509, Q1505 Five blinks - AKB circuit (automatic kine bias), the timer/standby indicator blinks for about 30 seconds then goes to the self-diagnosis function. Something is wrong with the video. Check video out, Q705, 732, 761 and other components on the Cboard, also check Q218, 219, 220 on the A board. In addition, unit could be in IK blanking, try turning up screen slightly. Six blinks - No Horizontal (H STOP), no raster, goes to the blinking self-diagnosis function immediately. Check C515 & 516 and the jungle IC, IC206. Seven blinks - High voltage shutdown. The high voltage has exceeded 33k and the unit goes immediately into safety shutdown. Check power supply regulation and horizontal circuits. Eight blinks - Problem with the audio (AUDIO), unit goes to standby and blinks the self-diagnosis code. Check IC406 audio amp, PS401, and 402. On some newer models of Sony TV sets, this code means that T8005 is defective on the D board. Nine blinks - Replace D 6116 and D 6301 on the "G" board, do not resolder as this will fix the problem temporary. Or Panel Module Error or Thermal Error. If it is intermittent 9 blinks, meaning sometimes the TV comes on and other times you get flashing, then change the switching regulator on the "G" board or check connections. Make sure the regulator is -12 or -13 (negitive). Ten blinks - Check Q8014 and Q8013 for shorts, leakage, or bad solder connections on the " D" board. If the transistors are bad, check R8051 and IC8005, also on the "D" board. Intermittent problems? This is a great feature. You can also bring up these fault codes on-screen to see a list of the problem numbers with the abbreviation of the problem and the number of times this problem has occurred. This is slightly different than entering the service mode. To see the diagnostic screen, press the following buttons: Display, Channel, 5, volume Minus, ( not plus ) then Power. This brings up a screen with a list of the problems and number of times they have occurred. Each of the problems named, are abbreviated as, "OCP", "OVP", "V STOP", ETC. We have repeated them in parentheses in the text for the "Blinks" described above so you can correlate between the diagnostic screen and the blink codes. Now that you know about these self-diagnostics, how do you use them? Say that you have a set with a black screen. You see that the LED is blinking four times. This would tell you that you have no vertical sweep, which is why the video is muted. If it was blinking 6 times, you would know that you have a horizontal fault. It's not a sure cure..
