Question about Mitsubishi WD-62525 62" Rear Projection HDTV

Mitsubishi WD-62825 vertical lines, blue snow, picture jumping

I am having issues with my DLP that is only 2.5 yrs old. I have taken a video of the problems at the two links below. I have two problems, one there are vertical lines going across the tv from top to bottom on all the channels, its worse on the HD channels. On the second problem there are blue snow like specs happening on all the channels. A third problem that is happening in the last two days (that I do not have a video) is that the TV is like flipping the picture. So the bottom of the picture ends up at the top of the picture at moments.

I had a repair guy come out and tell me I need a new light/projection? engine, and it would cost $950 for the repair ($700 for the part). He was not a Mitsubishi certified dude though so I dont know if I trust it.

Any ideas?

Thanks, I have vertical lines in my picture and when there is no picture I have purple and black horizontal lines.

I also have the WD-6285 My problem is pronounced Diagonal line running across the screen and visible on most channels but more pronounced on Non Hi Def channels.
I am not yet convinced it's a TV problem and the local Time Warner Tech has eliminated most of the hardware as a cause and has changed all the old connector terminals.
Tomorrow he will change the Street Tap. He has also cleaned all the external ground terminals. I'll keep you posted if it solves the "lines" problem.

This is a follow up to my post of yesterday on this problem
A new TWC Tech looked at my problem and after a long time decided to use the "add a new device" featire and hooked up a cable between the HDMI input on the TV and the Cable Box. Activating this feature bypassed the normal RF signal routing and component inputs and solved the diagonal line problem.

Somehow the component input circuitry was providing a path for the normal RF signal to mix somewhere and cause the beat signals to show on the screen

    Good Luck

I also have lines running through my mits. tv wd-62825. the tv tech that looked at mine said he would have to pull the chassis out and sent it in. it would cost 700.00 plus his labor.

I just replaced my lamp. After installing the lamp, strong purple diagonal lines have appeared. This happened a year ago, without replacing the lamp, and it cost me $700 and one month without a tv. Now the problem has reoccurred after installing ny new lamp. Any one out there have any suggestions? The tech shops are completely unstrustworthy and Mitsu's help is terrible.

I have the same problem with my tv, my tv tech said mitsubishi knows of the problem and knows how to fix it, but it would cost me 700.00 plus his labor to take out the chassis and send it in to mitsubishi, plus I would be without a tv for up to a month. this is b.s.

My mitsubishi diamond series wd-62825 picture is too dark

There is something I remember and it may be the model you have---Mitsubishi can tell you or you can look for yourself----a few models made at about the time this set was made had 2 mirrors----one a tiny one that faces up and reflects the picture into the large rear mirror.

Dumb idea--the little mirror gets coated with dust and brightness drops up to 70%---

The safe and correct way to know is to remove the entire front screen with its frame---both mirrors (if yours has 2) will be easy to see.

The large mirror hangs at a angle and down so it never gets dirty--don't even think of touching it or using glass cleaner on it--any mark on it will show in the picture.

let me know if you want to remove screen unit to see if one mirror or two---a call to mitsubishi would answer that.

I have a 2 year old Mitsubishi WD-73732 - 1080p 73" Medallion Series DLP HDTV - WD73732. I am getting blotches of color when there are large areas of blue color. Looks like irregular moving stains...

It will cost you probably in the area of $700.00 to replace the Light Engine. I don't think it would be a good idea to repair it. DLP sets have been out of production a few years now due to high failure rates of the light engines for all makes and models and the consumer cost for the lamp.

Horizontial lines and picture deteroration

This one is tough. Can be either the DM module, formatter board or optics block assy. Check for bad capacitors first in DM module, then signal board then formatter board. If your lucky, bad capacitors maybe what it is. If not, a new optics block is what you'll be needing.
