Question about RCA VR706HF VHS VCR

1 Answer

TIMER flashes on the VCR front panel and there is a cassette in the VCR. The TIMER indicator is suppose to flash when there is no cassette in the VCR. I always keep a cassette in the VCR because I tape General Hospital Monday-Friday. After watching my tape last night, the timer button began to flash and the power on the vcr automically shut off. Everytime I would turn the power on,the vcr automically shut itself off after 10 seconds. I can't even eject to remove the tape. I have had this vcr for years and never had a problem. It's really is a good product. What's going on? My second question is, I have about 50 tapes I have recorded from this vcr. How do I convert those to dvd?

You need to go in the on screen menu and set your clock. This will stop the flashing.

Timer light flashing,

You have a record event set for your VCR. Consult your user manual for specific ways to delete.

Generally, if you still have the remote, you can press the menu button, goto timer / record setup and see what events have already been saved. There may be information on the screen indicating how to delete.

Flashing auto display - won't power up

The infra red light in the middle of the mechanical deck, that powers the left and right photo sensors is not ok.It looks like a small lamp( you cant see it when it works-Infra red mind it).The video cassette has a large round opening in the bottom towords the front, and accomodates this lamp.please check it out.

Error 2 on Front Panel

I'm not sure if this is a solution, but it cleared up the problem for me. It turned out there was a loose paper label for the cassette that got stuck inside the VCR with the cassette.

I had to take off the top of the VCR by removing the three screws. I then removed the jammed loose paper and then was able to get the cassette out. The flashing number 2 (whatever that means) went away. The machine seems to be working fine now.

Flashing "3" on VR330 front panel

A possible bad sensor, bad mode switch, mechanism gear timing off, or perhaps a missing or incorrect voltage from the power supply may cause this problem. I don't know what the "3" indicates, this may be an error code which would help a technician with the proper literature diagnose. Unfortunately, most modern electronics, VCRs, TVs and such are of the disposeable variety. Costs of repair, if you can even find a service center, are usually not economical. If you by chance have some technical savvy, you might be able to trace the problem down.
