Hold down the app for a couple of seconds until it vibrates then drag to the trashcan on the slider tab of the applist. (the up arrow icon turns into a trashcan when you hold down the app for a couple of seconds.)
Found this by accident. I checked and the app was still on the G1 just not on my desktop anymore.

If you have not already done so, install the Palm Desktop software from your CD. (If you do not have a CD, you can download the Desktop software from palmone.com.)
Connect the USB cable to your PC and to your E2. (If you do not have a cable, you can probably find one on eBay.)
If the cable has a button, push it. If it does not, open the applications menu (the "House" button to the left of the graffiti area) and look for the app called "HotSync". Run the HotSync app, make sure that the Local/Modem choice (above the central hotsync icon) is on "Local" and the combo box below the icon says "Cradle/Cable". The tap the icon. If this is your first sync, you may have to answer a popup on your computer before it will proceed.
Took me a while to figure mine out.... Power switch must be on to charge. Plug into any Mini-USB charger, let the hourglass come and go. Wait for the greenish looking screen, and turd on the switch. You will then see the little battery in the bottom right corner start filling up with grey color. Wait about an hour and your battery will be back to full.
IF the switch is OFF, the player will work when pluged in, but will NOT charge.
