D-Link Air DWL 650 connecting to my Dlink router

I can not seem to get any connection between my d link card and dlink router - my dlink router works fine with a cable wire but does not seem to be aware of any wireless device - in fact the router does not show as a wireless network.

You need to go into the wireless driver advanced properties and set the SSID, WEP Key, channel and others. Wherever there is an 'auto' option, choose it.

I never got the dlink utility to work. I let windows manage it and change the device settings in advanced props.

Why cant i connect my dlink

Forget the D-Link drivers!!! I suffered with this same DWL-G630 issue for two years, trying different settings, reloading drivers, all with no solution. My card kept dropping it's connection, or wouldn't connect at all until I removed then replaced the card. Finally, I read on another forum this card uses the same chipset as an ASUS card, and to try the ASUS drivers. I downloaded and manually installed the drivers from here:

ftp://ftp.asus.com.tw/pub/ASUS/lan/wifi-g/wifi-g.zip

Unzip it, but DON'T run the setup.exe file, because it will try to install the ASUS program. If you open the unzipped folder you will find another folder called "Drivers". Just use your Network Settings (from your Control Panels) to manually update the driver of your DLink card, and navigate to the Drivers folder just mentioned. Reboot -- you'll probably have to reconnect to your access point/router one last time, but that's it! It's good as gold after that.

I was used to losing connections 5-8 times PER DAY (I'm 15 feet from the router!) and now I've been connected non-stop for two weeks and counting!!

Connecting to wireless network

Hi,

Offhand, I am getting the impression that either way (static or auto), the AP is the one responsible for disconnecting or refusing you. One reason is that you do not have permission to join the network or there is a security key that you need to be able to access.

A couple of clarifying queries pls:
1. Which configuration utility are you using for the G630, D-Links or Windows built-in?
2. Which security method is the "sons dlink 1310 wpa network" using WEP, WPA or MAC filter?
3. Have you tried different hardware configuration/settings for the 630 such as Auto Power Save, Power Management, Authentication Algorithm, Passive Scan Dwell Time, others?
4. Can you access the webbased interface config utility of the 1310 router?

Pls post back and then we can start figuring things out.

Good luck and kind regards.
